Why no response? Nobody uses the 300 wby or just not with RL25? I just made a buy on a 5 lb jug of the powder and am trying to find it a home! I just worked up to 83.5 gr from 81.5 and only one load showed any promise, that was 82.5 (1.4" at 100). At 83.5 with a 200 gr sierra I got it pretty good between the eyes and got a 3" group. :?

I've used RL22 and IMR 4350 a lot for the 300 Wby. but I have only used 180 gr. bullets. If you can get enough RL25 into the case it should be awsome. It's been my favorite in the RUMs and has gotten me 100+ FPS more velocity then max with awsome accuracy and no pressure signs. It's slow enough that you won't get in trouble quick with a .5 grain increase but I've always ended up with compressed loads, which is good if it's not so compressed that it pushes the bullet back out with normal handling in the box. That will depend on the length of the bullet for the weight. Partition protected points work good in that sense but they suffer a very little in ballistic co-efficient. Let us 300 Wby owners know what you develop.

If you have access to it, there's data in the Lyman #48 (and the new #49) for RL25 in the 300Wby. Velocities are staggering - like 3280+ from an old style 180gr Barnes X bullet (prior to the TSX). Should be a great powder, but it's going to take the right combination of bullet and charge weight to make it click. I wonder how it would do with the 180gr E-Tip? Hmmmm.....I may have to spring for a pound if I can fanagle it. Of course, a pound is now running about $32 locally! At least I know where some is.
