I'm fairly new to the reloading scene but have used Nosler ballistic tips on NH and VT deer but now that I've moved to Northern NY I'm considering loading a batch of ammo for use on deer and possibly bear. I've got some 130 Speer loaded up but I need some advice on Partition bullets for deer and bear. I'm leaning toward the 165 Partition for dual use and I wanted some input from people who have used this style of bullet. The rifle I use is a T/C Encore and it's not too picky on bullet loads, very accurate and it's taken it's fair share of game, now I have to get a NY deer... Thanks for the help

I believe that you could hardly go wrong with the 165 Partitions for your dual deer/bear load. The .300 is more efficient with heavier bullets, and the 165 is a good compromise which will expand well on deer but penetrate black bear. The 130s are really too light for deer, more of a varmint bullet due to their light construction for the velocity.

Might want to check out my thread: Newbie Hunter, combo load....under Reloading and the Hunting forum as well. Some good Q&A.
