Hey fellas, Anyone have a good load worked up with the 165gr 300 Win Mag and a 165 AccuBond. How will 71grs of H4350 shoot? I want a speed of 3050 fps which though rather mild is hot enough. The Ballistics Calculator tells me i will have just under 2000 fpe at 400 yards which is about all the farther I want to shoot at an elk. I mosly want to use this load for mule deer and such though. I only like to take good broadside or slightly quartering shots at that range anyhow. This is more than enough energy anyways! I want to use Fed 215 Primers as usual and either RL22 or H4350 powder. Remmy or POP you guys had ought to know.

Don't rule out the 180 gr AB in your300 Winny.
75.0 grs RL22, 180 gr AB, Federal GM215M primer should get you
close to 3000 fps and sub MOA accuracy.
It will be an elk/mule deer hammer well past 400 yds.

I have tried the 180 AB with the exact load you have described except with a FED 215, and it just doesnt hold a group like i want it to. I got a chance to shoot some Federal Factory 165gr Solid Bases in my rifle and 10 shots, thats right 10, stayed in 1.75" at 100 yards! It wouldve been better but I was beginning to get a little flinch around the 6 or 7th shot. Anyhow, How would 70-71grs of H4350 do(with the 165 AB), will I get the velocity I seek?

My 300 likes 77grs of RL-22, CCI 250, R-P cases and 165 AB's.
I hit a 2.5" steel spinning target @ 300 yds consistantly.
I don't have a chrony yet and can't tell you the exact fps.
My manual states the fps @ 3200.

Excellent load!

the 165gr AccuBond is a great bullet for the 300win mag. in the nosler #5 they list rl19 as the most accurate powder tested. 71gr at 2982fps. with a max load of 75gr at 3192fps. rl22 get you the highest velocity at the max load of 79gr for 3290fps. the 165gr AccuBond kills deer and that is what i have them loaded for. elk i use 200gr partitions

I get 3000 fps with 165-gn Accubonds from my 30-06, so getting the speed should be easy for you from your magnum.

Conventional wisdom would say that the 180 or 200 would be a superior elk bullet. That said, keep your shot angles sane and the 165 should do fine. I've settled on the 165 as my all-around load for my '06, but then again I use a .338 for elk and the '06 is in third place as a backup rifle, so realistically for me the 165 is my deer/black bear load. But I'd stick one in the ribs of an elk without too many worries!
