Hey POP or Remmy, you guys are on the level. Your advice has always been sound. I have yet another one, rather simple, but these days I just dont have the time to go shoot and chrony like I used to. I Love the way that 200 AB performs inmy 300 Win Mag. I just am trying to consolidae my powders into three basic types A) IMR-4064, 30-40, 300 Sav, 308 WCF, and the like. B) H4350, 30-06, 270, 25-06, 300 Win Mag. C) RL-22,
300 Win/Wsm, RUM, 338 Win, 25-06, 270, 7mm Rem. I liked to use the IMR 4350 for the B class of cartridges but i like the H4350 better because it is extreme and shoots tighter groups in most of my loads. Especially the 30-06 165 and the 300 Win 165. I was wondering, to cut to the chase, if either of you know a good Load featuring the H4350 and 200 AB for the 300 Win. I want to get around 2800-2825 fps at the muzzle as this is plenty fast and shoots good with the Model 70 Stainless I have. Thnx

In my 300 Win.....I have found the Reloader 19 with the lighter bullets.....and Reloader 22 with the popular 190 and 200gr work best for me!

69.4 of RL22 w/200gr AB 2800 FPS Accurate
70.4 of RL22 w/190gr Hornady BTSP 2900 FPS ( Favorite) Very Accurate

70.0 of RL 19 w/180gr AB

Fed 215GM Primer
FC Cases

How would 69-70 grains of RL-22 shoot? It is so slow burning that reducing the max by a couple of grains may suffer accuracy. I want this load (200AB @2800-2850) to at least group inside 1.5" at 100 yards. Nobody seems to get 2800 with H4350 so I might try RL-22. Same stuff, 200 AB, FED 215, R-P cases, but with like 69grs of RL-22. Any thoughts? POP? Remmy? Nosler 3?

69.4 of RL22 with the 200gr AB will give you 2800 FPS

My Match Load and hunting load is 70.4 of RL 22 with 190's...is 2900 FPS

Good bullet for the 300 Win.

From your first post I noticed you have a .300 WSM, or at least list one there. I am getting an average of 2804 fps with 62.8 grains of H4350 and the 200 grain AccuBond out of my Kimber 8400. Groups are under 1 inch consistently.

You might try Retumbo. I use it in my 300 WM match rifle with 220gr. Sierra Matchkings. I get less than 1/4 MOA accuracy out of it. Look at the Hodgdon website for Retumbo.I saw a 200gr. load in there. I've actually been wanting to try a load with 200 gr. Accubonds just for grinns. If I do I'll let you know how it does.

The fellas are spot on. 72 gr of RL 22 will bust 3000 fps in a 26" tube.

Hopefully your gun will like it.

Huh. I was pissed, at first, because it was a struggle to get over 2800 fps out of my 325 WSM with 200-gn bullets... now I don't feel so bad! Dang thing is matching 300 mag...

I used H4350... but that's probably not relevant...

It is no struggle to get speed out of my 300 Win. I clocked the FC High Energy 200 Partitions at 3000 fps from my 24 inch barrel but they kick like a mule and dont shoot a very good group. I have found that the 69 grs of RL22 is a great shooter and 2850 fps is fast enough as most shots on elk are relatively close 100-250 yards. I have confidence in this load to shoot farther out however.

elkslayer308,

RL22 in your 300 Win Mag with either 180 gr or 200gr bullets is the way to go for good velocity and great accuracy.

Thanx for the advice- 69grs of RL22 gave 2725 fps under the 2/00 grain AB, a little slower than I wouldve liked but it shot quite well, 3 shots under an inch over the hood of my pickup at 100 yards. I think that 70 grs might get me closer so next time I will up the charge. How about the 190 grain Hornady BTSP. Would 71-72 grs of RL22 with the Fed 215 do the trick for 2900 fps?

Try the hodgdon load of 84 grs. Retumbo and a 200 NPS. or AccuBond. The load is quite compressed, but I achieved 2960 fps. and less than 1/2" accuracy from a 24" hart.I would start low and work up.

The 69.4 RL 22 will give you the 2800 FPS with 200 AB.

70.4 with the 190's Hornady BTSP for 2900 FPS very accurate.

70.0 RL 19 with 200 AB gave 2800 FPS very accurate.

Just got back from the range, I tried IMR 4831 @ 71.6 with 180gr Norma's very good load also 3000 FPS.

I get 3,160 with 180gr. Barnes & RL 25 in my 26" Sendero. I achieved a little more speed with RL 25 over RL22, I am going to try the 200AB soon & I will try RL25 & Retumbo to see how they compare.

I reloaded for a buddy that used that bullet on my recommendation to take elk antelope deer etc.
He used a Savage tactical in 300 win mag for everything. The load I worked up was around 80 gr of H1000 and he busted 3000 fps with that load. Accuracy was under 2"......at 300 yards!

The 190 grain Hornady over 73.5grs of RL-22 got right at 2920 fps at the muzzle. I think that 71grs of RL-22 will give me the desired velocity of the 200 gr AB of 2850 fps. I use R-P Cases and Fed 215 primers. My 24" bbl Winchester Model 70 is fairly unique. The Magazine allows me to load the 200 AB out to 3.360" OAL and it doesnt contact the lands. So this is a sweet feature. Shoots really good at that length, measures the full .308 out there that way as well. I have been seating the 190s to the cannelure depth of 3.345" and that shoots great too.

Good deal. Glad you got everything figured out!! Sorry I didn't reply sooner, I"ve been so busy lately with a new job and some family issues I haven't logged on but maybe 2 or 3 times the last couple weeks. Very unusual for me, but you gotta do what ya gotta do!!
