Found this site searching for various info regarding data for a 300 WSM. Several combos that I plan on working up loads for. The 190 LRAB load data lead me to this site and it looks great with lots of good info. Look forward to sharing info.

List of bullets I plan on working up loads for and trying
190 LRAB
185 Berger Juggernauts
185 Berger Hunting VLD
190 Berger Hunting VLD
168 Barnes TTSX
168 Amax

Powders
H4831SC
H4350
H414
RL 17
Superperformance

Would welcome any thoughts/data on the above as I have all on hand at this point. Any others?

I have had outstanding results with RL17 in my .300WSM.... so much so it's to the point of exclusivity.

Welcome aboard, wizzum. If you have particular loads in mind, let us know. In the past, I pushed quite a few 168 grain TSX bullets through my several 300 WSMs. The bullet performed well, dropping quite a variety of game here in the north. ReLoder 17 will assuredly give you good velocities, and with some judicious loading, it will give you good accuracy as well.

Code:

I use a fair amount of VN550 and VN560 in my current iteration of the rifle with both 180 and 200 grain bullets.

Again, welcome to the forum.

I forgot- Welcome!

Just for what it's worth... my rifle doesn't like max charges with heavier bullets- no pressure signs but accuracy suffers. However, backing off a couple grains yields under MOA. Latest "pet" load is a 180AB at 2925. If there's a ballistic equation that won't solve (at least on this continent)...I'm not aware of it. the 190 ABLR ought to do even better further out.

With 150s though the story changes. Mine likes 150s as fast as you can push them. A max load of 69ish gr (Alliant data) and the 150AB gets 3340fps, SD of 8 (!)fps and leaves one ragged hole for a 5 shot group.

Borrowed a load from a 1,000 yard benchrest shooter, H4350 and a 210 gr Berger VLD. He won matches with it.

From my rifle's factory 24" barrel, it produced 2815 fps, very small spread, and 1.5" groups at 300 yards.

I'm happy with that.

Regards, Guy

Men, I really appreciate the info! Now I have some homework to do. Will report results. Working with a custom and a factory 300 WSM so I have different expections from each as I will use them differently. The custom will have to stretch out so BC with the heavies is important. I am really novice once you break the shell...goes back to the old saying...I have taken enough karate lessons to get my tail kicked...
