300 WSM - What's the best bullet ?

The saga goes on.......

For the moment I am working up loads with Vihtavuori N160 powder and the following bullets :

- Hornady 178 grs. A-Max
- Hornady 180 grs. BTSP Interlock
- Nosler 150 grs. BT
- Nosler 180 grs. BT

Is there Anyone who could run QL for the A-Max, please ?

I'm curious as to why no one has mentioned or tried Re17 with 180 grainers. I recently used it and with 64 grains (2 grains under max) I was able to get 3180FPS with 1 1/2 inch groups at 200 yards. Seems like it would be worth a try.

Thanks Doc !

Precise and swift as usual

I will give it a try....

Btw, impressive results on run-out on the resized brass (Winchester).

From once-fired brass and RCBS standard FL Dies, on 25 cases, I've got n.2 cases running on 2/100 and the rest staying within 1/100 with some very close to 0/100 (measured at the neck on empty case).

And I am talking 0,01 millimeters run-out, which should equal to 0,0004 inch.

OK, after seating it might be a different story, but still......

...I'm using 66grs. of RL-17 w/ the 180's (NAB's, GrandSlams, HotCors, Sierras) avg. MV of 3082fps/ 3/4MOA. I/ve had the best accuracy w/ RL-17 @ Max/ Near Max loads. Case fill is around 100%, I like 95-100%, willing to go to maybe 105% above that I generally start looking for another powder, there's lots of options out there, I've never found it necessary to try & cram 120% into a case...

Just a random thought... has anybody had any success getting ABs and BTs to shoot to same POI? (180 gr...) thinking about (relatively) cheap practice...

Kurt, I think it could be done, probably not the same die settings though. I did get lucky and my 264 Win Mag prints to the same point with the 140 BT and AB with the exact same load and die settings. I think I was more lucky than good with that load though.
