.308 BT Question?

300 whisper 125 bt at 2400 fps pass thru the lungs of a 6 point buck. Left plenty of blood to track in the snow.

I'am wondering how 125gr BT's work on WT deer, shot out of a 308 win. Or should I go to 150's?

Thanks,

In my rifles, a 150gr flatbase (like the Sierra) or 165-180gr Nosler BT are more accurate than the 125 - due to more bearing surface on the bullet.

While experimenting with many bullets can be fun, I tend to settle on a what's most accurate and that delivers the best BC. The 165 BT/AB/PT would be hard to beat for any situation where ranges are less than 500 yards. Over several days, I once shot a super accurate heavy barreled Rem 700 in 308 Win with a mil-dot 4-14x Leupold and 168gr National Match bullets out to as far as 770 yards on a sniper course. This gave me a tremendous appreciation for the 308 and its capabilities with high BC bullets, and I certainly had fun with that rifle....

After reading these post lately It just goes to show you a bullet maker really can't go wrong, so many veiws, and opinions. And I must Amit I am no different, always experimenting. I had this guy ask me if was cheaper to reload than buy factory, I laughed, but gave him as much info as possible , he was happy. Settled on the 270 venture he did.
