I am thinking of having a 338-06 made from a mauser action I have. What kind of loads are you guys using with 210 & 225 grain partitions? What velocities are you getting? I will be using a 22" barrel in a #2 contour. This will be my elk hunting rig. I will top it off with a Leupold Varix-III 2-5 -8x (my favorite big game scope).

I get 2740 fps using H4350 under a 225 SP
2700 fps using H4350 under the 225 AccuBond.
Using IMR 4350 I can get 2825 out of the 200 grain Ballistic Tip
W760 pushes one of Jack Carter's 250 grain TBBC to 2600 fps.
Usin IMR 4064 I can break 3000 fps using the 175 grain "X" bullet but accuracy in my rifle with that bullet sucks.
All of this is out of a custom 24" barrel which was long-throated in the Weatherby style.
