I noticed on the 200 E-Tip that the plastic tip does not smoothly align to the shape of the bullet. Basically the base of the plastic tip is smaller than the where the copper comes to a point, leaving a sharp angle out. I assume that odd shape is factored into the published BC of the bullet? My larger question is that since the copper is thicker at its tip than those that match the plastic tip, does that alter the recommended 1800 FPS minimum opening velocity?

Welcome to the forum!

This is called the ECR or Expansion Control Ring which ensures controlled expansion over a wide range of velocities.
Here are recovered bullets shot from a 338 RUM at 100 yds and 300 yds.

Those certainly look fine. I'm pushing them just a tad bit slower out of a 338 Fed. Hunting up at elevation I would hit 1800 FPS at ~500 yds which is plenty far for me, but just want the confidence it will open effectively at that velocity.
