338-375 Ruger build

Great looking cartridge, Brian. Of course, it'll be more cool still when you post pictures of yours.

Scott and Brian had a chance to look at the greybull "built by bell and Carlson to grey bull specs " and the high tech stocks both looked well built and cheaper at least the greybull than the McMillan I am a huge McMillan gambit if I were looking to save some money I would definately look at those. oh yeah got to shoot a internally suppressed 300 whisper last weekend and a 375 chey-tac big mistake.

I think the Grey Bull stock is only made for M700 actions though. It is a nice looking stock though.

What did you think of the 375 Chey Tac? That thing has to be a beast..

I have shot a Greybull, they are pretty nice. I went with a HS over the Greybull for my STW, and now I can't remember why :? I think it was because it was on sale for a good bit less, and it was flat black. I knew I wanted to put the red webbing on it, and the greybull came black with grey webbing. But the 6.5-284 that had the Greybull on it that I shot felt pretty good in my hands, and passed the eye ball test.

Stocky Stocks does appear to be very competitive in offering a great selection to meet the requirements of the most discriminating shooter.

Yeah, those others like the Greybull and HS seem pretty heavy to me. I am trying to keep it kinda light. I seem to carry these way more than I shoot them, so something in the 8.5-9lb range is about all I want. They are sharp stocks though.. I already have a good enough stock on my 338, so I am not shopping for a new one yet anyhow.

the chey tac was pretty sweet he ran a 24" barrel on it to keep it "light 16 pounds" his own action and a manners t4 the brake works well it runs a 350 grain matchking at 2950 with 140 grains of retumbo i think is what he was using. once i get the 300 norma and the 22x47 lapua sorted i might look into one of those not sure what i would use it for but i will think of something.

Big Update!

I made a trip to the "local gun store" and picked up a used M70 stainless 7mm Mag for the build. Been used hard but will be just fine for what got it for.

Found time to make some dummy rounds. Necked and seated them with 338 RCM dies. Used some 250 ABs set at 3.64".
338-375 on left and right. 300 RUM with 200 AB at 3.68" in the middle.

Great find, Brian. That does move things along rather nicely. Hey, a man of your means can surely get a new quad for your son.

Man, that cartridge looks GOOOD!!! Nice work!

That rifle looks pretty good to me for the build. Should be a perfect set up.

3.65" looks pretty good to me as well.

Man, I can't believe you turned down the quad for the boy! Darn kid wants to run... Can't believe your holding him back!

What is the mag length in the 7mm Rem Mag you got?

That $10,000 Wheeler can stay at Bass Pro! Big price tag and way big to be useful. Matt is lucky that he has a buddy that is "loaning" him a few Quads  The rifle is in rough shape but better than what I thought last time looking at it! Think the mag is 3.6"?

Brian,

Where is the edge of the boattail? At the bottom of the neck?

A Wyatt box would fix the mag box length issue. A 225gr would probably work with the standard box though.

Man, if the mag box is already 3.6, I almost think that would work fine the way it is? It wouldn't slow it down that much at all really..

I guess we will have to get some measurements and see if the Wyatt is worth the extra work as well..

I am glad you all are keeping them fresh and not letting the tires rot! Just keep the rubber side down!

Think I'm right at or just past the neck/shoulder junction? Scotty and me have looked at the 3.85" Wyatt mag box.

That's sweet Brian! That donor looks like it's in pretty good shape too. Are you going to be replacing the stock with a MCM or gonna use that FW stock this year?
