338 Accubonds

I know. I am hoping to score some, I have been really trying to get something to get my 338 Win Mag loading kicked into gear. I finally bought dies for mine, I have cases, powder and primers. Just lacking the bullets. If I lose out on those, I will just go with the HDY 225gr SST's. They seem like they would be a good bullet for general purpose 338 hunting. I will probably only get it out for deer/elk this year. Scotty

Thanks Rich. Maybe I will just get a small batch for load development and see if they shoot. Scotty

Done, I just ordered 250 of the 338 - 225gr Abonds, and another 100 7mm 160gr Abonds. I am slowly switching over to an all Nosler diet. With the deal you get with seconds, and if your rifles shoot them, it is hard to shoot anything else. Great bullets at half the price of any others. Now if they would produce some 200gr Accubonds for my 300 Mag, I would be in great shape. Scotty

Rich, thanks again for the tip. I jumped on it as soon as you said it and was able to get 250 of the monsters. Can't wait to load them. I was in Gander Mt today and they wanted 49.99 for a bag of 50 Winchester 338 Win Mag Cases. I am not sure how they price stuff, but their reloading stuff is really high. I don't mind paying a little more, but their prices are crazy. Scotty

beretzs

I despise Gander Mt, they are way over priced. Last year I waited almost 30 minutes at the gun counter and the sales clerks didn't even acknowledge me. I haven't been there since and have no intention of going back.

Keep an eye open for some 338 cal 250 gr ABs. It is one awesome bullet, BC is .575.

I will keep an eye on Bivwak and SPS for the 250's. That is what I really wanted to load, but I was weak when I saw the 225's and I can't think of anything I will do with the 225's that the 250 will do better. I still want to shoot a couple deer with the 250's, just so I have an awesome picture like you have (plus the meat)...

I know what you mean about Gander. I have gotten decent deals there, but most of the time it is hit or miss. I wanted to look at one of their VariX III's 2.5x8's they had on display, but I lost interest before someone actually made it over to me. Pretty slow. They do have powder, but again, it is a couple dollars more than anybody else. Scotty

The 225's are a good bullet.
Since it's a little lighter, it help you get close to the magical 3000 fps in the .338 Win mag.

That is the plan. It should be a hell wrecker of an elk round. I like the 200's in the 300 Mag, so the 225's in the 338 should work out excellent. Scotty

The 338 cal 225 gr AB is a great bullet!
Accuracy from my 338 RUM is .5 MOA and recovered bullets are impressive!

I hope to be able to snipe a few deer with the 338 this year. I cannot wait to see how well the 338 does with the 225gr Abonds. I have a new scope on order for the rifle, so once I get them, I will start loading. My 338 might see alot of action this year depending on how much time I have to work up a proper load for it.
