I wish Nosler would resurrect the .338 BT. I really liked this bullet in my .338-06, as did the 06! I think it would be really good in my .338 RCM. It would likely be good in the .338 fed as well.

I guess I could give the .338 ctbt a whack, but I would like to see a 225 gr .338 bt.

Just rambling I guess, maybe I just need to go to the range and burn some powder!

The 338 200 gr BST and the BT is the same bullet. The BST use the Winchester Lubalux coating. Keep an eye out for seconds, sometimes you can get them with out the coating.the gray tip looks cool.

A 200 grain BT would be perfect for my 338 Federal. I am using 200 grain E-Tips, however, and they work quite well. If I should ever find some 200 grain BST, you may be certain that I'll snatch them up! Moose beware!

A friend of mine has been using the 180AB in the .338WM for several years. Just perfect for caribou- I'd imagine it'd kill any deer, goat, sheep...on up to elk like a hammer.

My 338 Federal shoots those 200gn CTBT very well. I've watching for 2nds for awhile now. Still waiting....

I have a 338-06 and wanted to try the BT/CTBT this year, put in an order for them at Cabelas with a backorder of a week or 2, turned into months.

I finally gave up and went to the 165 TTSX only shot a coyote so far but did quite well (as I think anything from a 338 would)

the lack of availability for "current" bullets is really why I scratch my head when people start talking about new bullets. I know the CTBT was made this year, i saw a bag of seconds but couldn't order them since i'm in NY and have to call in my orders, also not worth working a load for 50 bullets that may or may not be found again....

all in all.... i agree time to do some shooting with what I can find

I don't know why I'm whining about the ballistic tips...I looked for over a year to find some 215 gr SGKBT. Now I have 100 of them and have yet to send them down the barrel.

I am going to the range Sat and I have some test loads made up with the game kings, so we'll see.

The 215 grain Game King is certainly a fine bullet at 338 Federal and 338-06 velocities. I have a box on my shelf. Like you, I have yet to load the first one. My problem--too many good choices.

Wish I could find it quickly, but there was a post somewhere here, that showed the 215 SGK was build way to stout for 338 Fed, 338/06 velocities during a jug test. Acted more like a FMJ, built to be fired at 338WM speeds.

But, that aside, I would jump on a Plane Jane 200BT, in a heart beat and never look back ! Seems to be that all the hype these days is still following the ultra-range wiz-bam Mag craze. So sad, when the truth of hunting is a lot closer to 1-200 yds, instead to 5-600.

Yah, I used to worship at the alter of high velocity. I got tired of throwing 75 + gr charges of powder at a whack. I have been using 06 and 308 case based cartridges for the last 20 years...except for my compact mag. But it's just a short fat 338-06.

In 43 years of big game hunting I have only shot 2 head of game past 250 yards. 1- I terribly under estimated the range. Shooting a 7.65 Belgian mauser, I took a shot at a doe and seen the bullet splash between me and the deer. I Kentucky elevated and dropped her...she ended up being 350 ish yards away...not one of my better moments! The second was another doe right at 400 yards. I almost lost her...darn failsafe bullets.

I passed a 400 yard shot at a cow elk 2 seasons ago. I was snuggled in behind my hunting buddies ultra accurate .300WM, but I knew I had to drop her on the spot, so I passed. We are getting too old to pack elk quarters out of the deep hole she would have went in if she went 20 yards after the shot.
