I admit to only trying two powders in the 338 Fed and the Barnes 160 TTSX. I first tried Alliant Power pro 2000MR which did extremely well in the .308 and 165 Swift AF bullet, for 2750fps ( 30.06 territory) but it only produced best accuracy with the 338 Fed/160 TTSX around 2750. Group was right at .75". However, TAC was the real "nitro", wonder powder! 52gr gave me 30007 or so average fps with every charge, from 50 to 52, being under .75". I am jazzed beyond adrenaline! ha. This really makes this little 338 Fed a step above the 30-06 in overall field use!

At 30,007 fps, I'd be jazzed!

Barsness recommended TAC for both the 338 FED and the 358 WIN in an article a couple of years back. He seems to have been ahead of the curve.

My bad, I guess I was too excited! ha 3,012 fps average. 3007 was the 175/7mm Mag load with R33. I was around 2900 with 50gr and it really worked swell from there. I had to use a 4" drop tube to get it in the case, but I crimped the devil out of it with the LEE FCD to hold it down! ha. Pressures were very moderate too.
