Stock fits me fine, I love the guns and also own a 7/08 FW Classic, along with a pre '64 .270. I'm a bit concerned that a medium contour barrel might not be a good fit where a FW contour used to live. I'm also a tad reluctant to use a stock without a cross-bolt with full-house Whelen loads(?) :?

For the record, recoil to my shoulder never enters my thoughts or decisions.....
 
They have been building Model 70's since 1958 for the .338 Win Mag and I have never seen one of the round tapered tang Model 70's split a stock and I have owned (3) .338 WM, Model 70's including a USRAC Sporter.
