.338 win.mag.Bullets

We tried the 250gr sierra's years ago. One deer they woud fail to expand, on elk we had core jacket seperations.....something in the combination just wasn't right.....

We you can get them, the 200gr BT's are a great bullet. They shoot well, open up quick, and leave big holes. At only 200 grains it's easy to throw them over 3k.

The 225gr AB also provides a good combination of mass and velocity. 2850-2900 is very achievable. With the 250's launch velocities begin to trail off, so for this reason I prefer to stick to the 200-225 range.

I have shot the 200 gr BT and BST in my 338 RUM and they are accurate! Water jug testing indicated that they were a robust design. The 338 200 gr BT has been discontinued but the 200 gr BST is still available through Shooters Pro Shop.
The 338 200 gr AB is a great alturnative. Pretty accuraqtetoo, I have shot a couple of 2.0-2.25" groups at 440 yds with them.

I think the 200gr AB would be a great alternative to the lighter 338 loads. I have some 180gr BT's for the 338 also. Figure they would just about mow a deer off its feet! Scotty

I did not have luck with the 210 Noslers in either my .338 Federal or my .340 Bee. This is after trying three powders and about (4) boxes of bullets. However, the 225 Partitions ans the 250 Accubonds fly really well in the .340 Bee with groups hovering under MOA even at 200 yards. Plus I get 3050 fps with the 225 PT's and 2960 fps with the 250 AB's in the .340. That load will carry the mail at 500 yards!

Additionally, I have found that the 180 BT's and the 200 gr CT Silvertips both group well in my .338 Federal with velocites of 2700 and 2600 respectively. Plus both bullets group into really small groups with the .338 Federal (Sako Model 85) at about 1/2 MOA. I have one group that is under 1 inch at 200 yards with the 200 gr CT's. These about equal .30-06 ballistics with a bullet that is .030 larger in diameter. Go .338!

We could never get them to shoot in the .338 Win Mag either, That what really lead us to the 200 gr BT/BSST/AB. They shoot great, and we've never looked back.

Thanks for all the input keep it coming. I think I am going to try a box of the double tap .338 win mag. 200 gr. nosler AC. and see if they shoot well.
