Got some test loads loaded up today during lunch. Should get to shoot them tonight. Don't know if I'll be able to get a chrony or not but I'll keep you posted.

Here is my loads...

5- 72.5gr. RL-19, 3.380", WLRM, Win brass, 200gr. ET
3- 73 gr. RL-19
3- 73.5gr. RL-19
3- 74gr. RL-19

This load at 3.380" is .105" off and as long as I can get them to fit in the box. I'll shoot two foulers with 72.5gr. RL-19 do my tests. Have not decided if I'm going to test at 100 or 200 yet.

Good luck JMad. I have a bunch of 225gr Abonds loaded up right now with R19. I am still waiting on my new scope for the 338 to show up then I am off to the range. Should be fun to see how they do. I am pretty anxios to see your results. Scotty

The 200 gr E-Tip is a nice bullet. Plenty pf penetration....
These were recovered in water, shot from my 338 RUM.

Let us know how they shoot in your 338 Win Mag.

Well groups were not what I wanted by any means. Loaded up some more starting at 74 gr. rl-19 and went up .5 gr. loaded three of each at the 3.380 an then three more of each at 3.360". The goups were about 2.5"-3" at 200 yards starting at 72.5 and opened up then started to close back down at 74gr. I wasn't getting any preasure signs so I went up a half more grain and then changed the seating depth to try again. Wind is blowing a steady 15 mph now though so when it dies down I'll shoot again.

Did get a few recovered though from the dirt trap at 200 yards. Looking pretty damn impressive, I really hope I can get them to shoot! They are both 198 gr. and some change. The one on the left is a 130 ET out of my 270 WSM at 200 yrds as well, it weighed 128 gr.

Those are indeed impressive results. The 270 E-Tip is especially interesting to me since I will be using it this year in my 270 WSM. It looks to me as if it will work quite well.

I really want to get them to shoot in my 270 WSM as well. Funds are a bit short at the moment though so I'm shooting the 140 ABs that I have on hand.

I did find one of my old 225gr. TSX bullets in the dirt at 200 as well...all the petals were gone.

Nothing wrong with the 140 AB in the 270 WSM. I'm just now moving toward 140 grain bullets for my rifle, and the AB will receive a fair amount of attention.

So here is my lunch break results. These two are both with 74.5 gr. RL-19 the top one is 3.360" and the bottom left one is 3.380". Both at 100 yards with a 5-8 mph cross wind. I tried 74 again at the shorter length and it was worse than either of these. I'll load up some more and try again to double check. should be able to shoot them in the morning. I might load up a few just a tad shorter than the 3.360" just to see if I can get that one little guy to join the others

Well here it is... the one on the right is the same one that went 1 1/8" yesterday. The one on the left is .012" shorter. I'm not sure if I puller the second shot on the left or not, but I'm going to shoot this load again at lunch.

I'm thinking that part of my problem is that my brass is getting shot. I had to sort through my brass to find ones that would hold primers. It could be the WLRM primers to though, they seemed ti go in easier into all my mags than the fed 215 does. Not sure if they are a smaller size or what. The only other thing thta was different that the group that I shot the other day is that it was about 30 degrees cooler this morning than yesterday at lunch.

Whats your thoughts?

I would try some fresh brass and re test your loads.

I am sure you can get it a little better but man, that seems like a pretty accurate and powerful package you have right now. Wouldn't want to be a Wapiti on the receiving end of that Etip. Scotty

E-tips seem pretty tempermental.

If you could consistently get it to go 1" or so, thats still plenty good for the size animals you'll be shooting with the 338. I know it aint the 1/2" or 3/4" you probly really want, but it will still get the job done out to normal hunting ranges.

I haven't used many Win primers, but the times I have I didn't notice them going in any looser then other brands. Your brass could be the culprit as well.

To expensive to keep tinkering around IMO.
