Try some of those 140 gr. Accubonds and Partitions in that thing. My .280 really like 54.0 grs. of IMR4350 for about 2940 fps in a 22" barrel, and Magnum primers and 59.0 grs. of H4831SC for about the same velocity!

It might be interesting to see what H100V would do in it as well. I didn't have that powder to try in my .280 before I sold it...........

6Rem, I got the 280 just for something to play with and get alittle loading data from. When I had the 280AI done for my wife I's never shot a 280 so the first loads I worked up were with H-4831sc. 61gr/H-4831sc and 150gr TSX bullets shot so good for my wife thats ended alot of the load developement I'd planned for that rifle. that rifle has a 25" long Kreiger barrel.

Within the next 60days I'll be getting my 280AI and be nice to compare loads/velocity with the 280. I'm going to start with a 26.5" long barrel for the 280AI see what happens.

After shooting the Whelen yesterday gunsmith and I was wondering about a 35 Whelen 2850/2875fps with 225gr Accubonds so that 280 maybe become a new project. We talked to one barrel guy yesterday so well see be something for next year.

Congratulations on the 280 AI. Let me know if you need any load data.

That would be a great load to work up to. I would certainly follow your load development if you were able to get them up to there. That is really deep in the 338WM territory, with alot less powder! Sounds like you have a great start so far. Scotty

I was wondering what barrel length was on your .280. They really do deserve a 24" in my opinion. That is the only complaint I had with my MTN Rifle.

Let me know how it works for you!!

It has a 24" long barrel and I agree with you on barrel length.
