Well the old Whelen with the 225 AB worked the magic again on a nice cow Moose on Friday the 2nd at 9:40 am. Took her on the run double lung ranged her after she dropped 268 yards. Those 225 AB's sure hit hard the old girl jut went straight down when it hit kicked a little bit and was done. Hooked her up to my winch and pulled her up on the stubble field to dress her out. That was the end of the easy work as I was hunting solo that day  So by the time she was dressed out loaded in the truck driven to the shop hung up and skinned it was pushing midnight. I am still sore today but it is a good sore a freezer full of excellent eating sore

Now if I knew how to post a photo I would so if anyne can give me some pointers I will post a picture of the old gal.

Never got to recover the bullet  straight through probably still sailing across the prarie

Congratulations on a great conclusion to your hunt. That's the way to do it!

Congrats on the moose. Its sure is nice to know a person has a full freezer.

Our moose hunting group was forunate enough to get 4 bulls this year. Couple guys have cow elk tags with the season now open as of Nov1-Dec22. Should have some well fed families this winter. now we just need to find a day or 2 to make sausage.

You need to post your sausage recipe so that I can scoop it up from you. Seriously, that would be something that others might truly appreciate. I understand that spices vary just as taste varies. I also know that what we had from our grandparents is likely what we like. Still, a fresh experience is often a positive experience.

Congratulations, on a fine cow it will definitely fill the freezer with some tasty meat.
The 35 Whelen takes another victim.

Blessings,
Dan

Congratulations on a very nice cow, that will give a lot of very good meals. Glad to see you guys nailing the moose with the Whelen and 225 gr Accubonds.

Wow !
That Whelen must pack a lot of wallop to drop an animal that big that quickly !
Congratulations !

Very cool to see the Whelen smacking down moose. Seems like the Whelen rings a bell when someone says "Moose Cartridge"!

Thanks to all for the congratulations. The Whelen hits like a truck  I can't tell the difference between it and the 338 WM I used to own with both shooting 225's the 338 did cause more bloodshot but not a whole lot more than the Whelen. The only thing I do notice is recoil between the two with the whelen being a nice solid push and the 338 was a smacky SOB well at least mine was. Time to put one of them 225's into an Elk and claim another animal for the Whelen.
