I can see why the 200 AB has it's place in the offering. It will be a great bullet for those that decide to go with it. I have simply chosen to stay with this one load for everything and I'm sure it will not disappoint me. All the things you mentioned it provides. Heck I could probably shoot through a tree and still kill a Deer on the other side with this load! :mrgreen: :mrgreen: Just kidding.

No question about it the 200 AB will flatten Deer. I shot 200 Rem Core Locks long ago to prove it.
The time factor involved with new load development is something I have considered. With the 225 AB shooting so well with the combined results, it washes that new load thing away in a hurry for me.

Can you run Quick Load for the 35 Whelen and the 200 gr AB. I was curious what kind of speed we could get.
With a BC of .365, she should be pretty decent out to 300 yds.

Yeah, no worries Jim. Already done it a couple of times anyhow, for curiosities sake.

Here it is for you 22" Rem 700 Classic shooters. I used 63000PSI / 107% powder compression @ 3.34" COAL.. Pretty impressive when ran at 270WIN pressures.

Cartridge : .35 Whelen
Bullet : .358, 200, Nosler AccuBond 54425
Useable Case Capaci: 61.701 grain H2O = 4.006 cm³
Cartridge O.A.L. L6: 3.340 inch = 84.84 mm
Barrel Length : 22.0 inch = 558.8 mm

With calculating I can use TAC and some others powders to get more velocity that Q/L. The 358Win is the only cartridge I have run into when using Q/L that I am disappointed in and have proven to be better than the info on Q/L. Thanks for thinking of me though, I appreciate it.

NO, you are right, no one should guess and Q/L is a very good guide, I just have used a strain gauge to find other powders and charges for my 358Win that is all, and if one does not have a means to determine chamber pressures they should not experiment but use a guide like Q/L or published load books to work from.

Hey, especially the Varget proved to be different when using the strain gauge and we got good velocities with the 225gr and I would expect the same gain with the 200gr but we were not able to get great accuracy with the Varget and the 225gr AccuBond. Now see what you guys are doing to me, here we go again, I will have to turn another rock over just to see how if works with testing and setting up the strain gauge again and developing loads for my Ruger Hawkeye 358Win. It is all your fault guys if I get caught up in development of loads with the 200gr AccuBond.

I would bet no one here has them yet, but I bet it isn't long.

I would bet we will see some expansion tests and accuracy results pretty quick as well.. I think Varget/8208 might be a little too slow for the 200's in order to get TOP speed, but they aren't very far off the mark though. I would run it, especially if it is accurate in your rifle. I am a huge RL15 user in the Whelen with 225's and 250's, but I would think W748 would get a shot if I were to try them, which I will, just cause I can't help myself!

I think I will try this bullet in my 358. I've used the 200gr Hornady Interlock for a long time and its a deer killer but this new 200 AB really got my attention. I use TAC (50.5gr) and getting right at 2600fps.

Otter, the 358 is an awesome cartridge. I used mine with the 225 PT. Granted it is way too much for deer, but they work well at around 2450.. Seems like a 358 is about as good as it gets for your area though. Nothing in that part of the country the 358 wouldn't be just right for! Great to have another 358 guy! Seems like us 35 cal nuts are bringing it back a little. They are hammers.

I'm one of the mississippi guys that gets to shoot these in a single shot H&R rifle and call it a primitive weapon.
I've been using 200gr cor lokt. I'm getting 2711 with 59.5gr of varget, 1.2" groups and 2767 with 59.5gr of 8208 .8" groups. I would love to get the speeds of the hornady factory rounds without the 4 inch groups those things shoot in my rifle.

I would bet you would get close with a little work on it. I don't think they would be hard to match, and get much better accuracy as well.. Again, welcome aboard!
