Thanks I try the 215 when I next load with TAC.

What about the OCL for the 200grAB? I have the short rem 700sa magazine.
I think OCL of 2.760" is .020" short of the lands and where I load my 358win with partitions. Well the .020" is right I do not have any load data on hand here at work.

That should work, of course you working with the load and OAL will be the final determination, but the 200gr AccuBond should really work good for you.

What primers work best for TAC in the 358win? I use 210M federal match primers but would Tac do better with a 215 or other large rifle magnum primer?

Western shows 46.0grs of TAC as max with 2300-2400fps. I think I got 2430fps with the sierra 225gr and Partition 225gr , but would have to check on that. 48.0grs max for the 200gr @ 2450-2550fps.

Is any one loading the 200gr AB @ the 358win max OCL 2.780"
Handloader #254 has an article by John Barsness about TAC and the 358 Win. and 338 Fed. His 358 was a Ruger Hawkeye. His max load for a 200gr was 52.0gr w/Fed. 215, 2750fps. His max load for a Nosler 250gr. Partition was 48.0 gr.,2423fps. It was after reading this I began using TAC. I load for a Rem. 760 and never had any intentions of trying to get to 52.0gr. I "started at 48gr. and when I got to 2600fps w/50.5gr. I called it good. Case's practicly fall out of the chamber and case life is good.

Midway has a picture up of it, it does appear to be a shortened 225 gr bullet. I imagine they would have built it quite tough to handle the speeds of the Whelen and even bigger rounds. The 200 on top and 225 on bottom.

I can see one now "pancakeing" a blackie or a big mountain goat :)

I think it would be pretty surprising what they will do. They are short, but being they will hold up with the AccuBond, I bet they will go pretty deep. I would imagine that base is pretty thick on the 200 as well. Hard to go with much other than the 225 AB or 250 PT, but the 200 would be pretty slick as a lighter bullet. Might even drop the recoil a touch. I think it would hammer the crap out of deer and black bear though. Wished it would fit into the 358 Win mag box of my BLR. It would be just about perfect in that cartridge. That would really make a 30-06 sweat I think..

I think I can only stretch to about 2.790 in my BLR, so we are in the same boat Tjen. I would like to try it though. Just to see if it would be worth the work.

Like I said in my previous post, The 200 Rem Core Lock flattened Whitetails for me and we all know the AccuBond holds up better than the Core Lock with it's construction. The 200 AB is destined to be a real performer, just my opinion.

I think your opinion is right on, I agree Don. Now if Ruger would just wake up and once again chamber their Hawkeye in 358Win again, or better (forbid they do it) Nosler chamber it instead of just relying on the 35 Whelen for sales of the M48 in 35 caliber. Man what am I saying!!!!! I would end up buying one if they did and that would mean going to the bank.

Bullet,
Maybe the out break of the 200 AB will spark Nosler to offer the 358 win in their Mod. 48. Just think of the two sided effect on Rifle sales and bullet sales it could produce. It could wake up their competition as well to offer the 358 again, then Nosler would benefit more on the bullet sales.

I see a win-win situation here on the horizon ! Dang I need to get back into Sales again!

mine will be in monday. anyone have any plans to try these with superformance?

Now, that would be a sweet offering!

I think a M70 FWT would be the HEAT! With a couple of factory cartridges, folks wouldn't know what to do with themselves.. Talk about a 0-300 elk hammer without the recoil!

I've got 200 grain ABs on order; they should be arriving by dogsled sometime in late December.

Man, so soon.. You must have paid extra for pony express!

I will pay extra. It is the cost of being privileged to live in the north.
