When are you going to try them. :?: :?: :?: :?:

Just as soon as I return from this deployment. Have a good load like your 358 Win with the 225 AB's for the Whelen. But, with the speeds attainable, I think they would be well worth the try.

The 225's do shoot really well though..

And they run 2730 or so out of my rifle. Hard to mess with, but, like you, I can't help myself. Wished I could make them work in the 358.. They would be about perfect..

You know Scotty, I was in the woods last week doing some scouting and I saw your image on a tree. As it was starting to get closer to darkness I decided to start taking pictures of it all of a sudden I got a little to close and said to myself, "you know that looks like Scotty on the Nosler forum and at that moment it broke out in flames. Now I end up purchasing some 200gr Accubonds that I really don't need. :?:

How did you get that target off the wall in my shooting room?

Great pictures Mike... Are you trying to say I am the Devil? Just asking....

I figured folks need to know, there are at least two 35 cals that'll shoot when guided decent!

No, if there is any of the devil in this, it is me not taking ownership of my addiction to reloading

Amen on the two 35's being guided to the right spot on game.

My 358 is a Rem. 760 that I rechambered from 35 Rem. back in 91 or 92. It shoots the Hornady pretty good. I consistantly get 1 1/8 to 1 3/8 inches only using 4x. I have a leupold 1-4 on it.

otter25, I have not had a chance to welcome you to the forum yet, and sounds like you have a good 358 win setup.

Scotty

W748 turns it into a 338 Win Mag factory load!
Impressive for sure.

Wow, lots of action on this thread since this morning :) Thanks for posting the QL data Scotty, I have 2 pounds of IMR 8208 XBR waiting along with 200 gr Hornady's and TTSX bullets. Can't wait for the 200 gr AB to show up here :) H 4895 looks really good along with TAC both should be temperature stable as well.

Mike. you might as well give in and get them anything else would be wrong ;) just the ticket for deer and your 358 Win :)

Its good to be here, certainly appears to be a lot of knowledge here. That 760 has killed some nice deer both as a 35 and the present 358. I have two 7600's as well, one a 257 Roberts and the other a 25 06. These are from limited runs done for a distributer in PA. TAC is doing real well for me in my 358.

Yeah, without a Jim, My 338 is really only pushing the 200 AB around 2980 or so. The Whelen really comes to a match as far as I am concerned. Not really enough BC difference to make a hill of beans difference. I happen to keep W748 around for the 358 Win, so I have some to monkey with when I get time..

Otter, That 760 sounds like a cool rig. I haven't ever owned a 7600 or 760, but I would mind having one. Most all I have seen have shot really well and yours doesn't seem to be any different.

What primers work best for TAC in the 358win? I use 210M federal match primers but would Tac do better with a 215 or other large rifle magnum primer?

Western shows 46.0grs of TAC as max with 2300-2400fps. I think I got 2430fps with the sierra 225gr and Partition 225gr , but would have to check on that. 48.0grs max for the 200gr @ 2450-2550fps.

Is any one loading the 200gr AB @ the 358win max OCL 2.780"

In the 358Win CCI 250 or Fed 215, or Rem 9 1/2 M

Scotty,
What primer are you using with your 35 Whelen? I'm thinking of trying the CCI250.

Don

Don, that is the exact primer I use in the 35 Whelen with RL15. It works well for me. I only started using them back awhile ago as that was what I had on hand. I haven't seen any good reason to change it either.

Scotty,
We use the same powder, currently I'm using the CCI200 primer with 59.0 grains. I may try the CCI250 just to see if there is any differences in the Whelen, heck it may tighten up the groups. It works really well with the 30-06 and H4350.

Don

Thanks I try the 215 when I next load with TAC.

What about the OCL for the 200grAB? I have the short rem 700sa magazine.
I think OCL of 2.760" is .020" short of the lands and where I load my 358win with partitions. Well the .020" is right I do not have any load data on hand here at work.
