I was digging around and found about 20 of these 358 Wins I had loaded with 41 grains of IMR4198 under the 200 grain Hornady SPs.

I cant remember what the heck I loaded them for but man they shot.

I adjusted my scope and shot another group.

Well I didn’t realize the old Burris was 1/2 MOA…. Shot the group on the bottom. Adjusted and came back up.

If one of you kind gentlemen would run QL for me On this load I‘D appreciate it.

41 grains of IMR4198 and a 200 Hornady SP seated to 2.710 shot outta a 20” barrel. I’d be interested to see what QL says. I reformatted my computer and and can’t find my QL disk!

Yeah, that load will hunt. Not much in NA that can stand up to that punch.

Great deer load you have there. I’ll bet that little rifle is dream to carry in the woods. Light, short, and fast handling. Whitetails beware.

Thanks Mike, seeing as it looks to be about 2500 I might just load up a pile of them. Thank you.

Joe, I used it a lot when I first got it. It is really handy and just a good feeling deer rifle.

I love the 358 Win. Can't see myself moving too far from that cartridge. I've had great success with 200 grain pills, settling frequently on the 200 grain TSX. I do have a large number of 200 grain FTX that need to be loaded and used.

Good stuff! 2500 will handle everything you'd need it to out to reasonable ranges with that cartridge. You should've put a note on that old box of ammo stating, "this load works." Ha. Wouldn't change a thing on that one.

First, I don’t know what I was thinking. A 358 Win is awesome on MUCH more than just deer. I feel like I severely undervalued the prowess of your rifle. I still say it would be a true joy to carry.

Second, I have a good quantity of 4198 in both H and IMR flavors that I load in my 45-70’s. After looking at some load info, I was surprised at how versatile the 4198’s are. It’s a powder that works in many different cartridges. I had only looked at it as a 45-70 powder.
