Nice! I am looking at getting a 45-70 SSK Barrel right now. Would love to find a 358JDJ, but if one fell in my lap I would take 35Win for sure.

What's the 358 JDJ built off of? 444 Marlin?

Some cool handgun cartridges.

Yes...

I want something to compliment either my 721 in 35 Whelen AI or my #1 in 45/70 and my 5 Shot Bisley in 45LC.

Scotty,

The 358 JDJ, along with the 309 JDJ and 375 JDJ are all based off the 444 Marlin case.
I have shot both the 309 and 375 JDJ's and took a 180 lb hog with the 309 JDJ. They hit hard!

Anyone have first hand experience with the G2? Is it a step forward? I am thinking about getting a G2 frame and ordering a barrel from SSK instead of waiting on someone to get tired of theirs.

With the the "limited" velocity of the a 14" barrel your sierra 200 will penetrate anything!

That's what I'm thinking Fotis. I am guessing 1900 fps with the Sierra 200 gr FP.
I'll run a couple into the jugs. I'm thinking 5 jugs and a big mushroom.

for sure man! Even 1700 with a cast will rip everything apart

UPDATE:

I ordered a FX-II 4x28mm for my S&W 629 Classic so there is going to be some scope juggling.
The 375 Win is going to be topped off with a Leupold VX-3 2.5-8x32mm. If I can get a decent load
developed, I will use this out back this coming fall. Maybe this summer on a crop damage deer....

I shot the T/C Contender 375 Win this afternoon and it looks like she is going to be a shooter!

I recovered a Sierra 200 gr FP in the 5th jug. MV is around 2000 fps. The bullet expanded to .705" and weighed 191.0 grs.

Nice T/C and nice group Jim! (y)

As an aside, I've got a handload that turns my .375 H&H Number One into a .375 Win:

.375 H&H case
35 grains of IMR 4227
220 gr Hornady @ 1920 fps

It's so doggone easy and fun to shoot in the single shot Ruger. Very mild! I only have a few of the 220 gr flat nose Hornady bullets left. Looks like time to get some lead bullets or switch to the 200 gr Sierra and adjust the powder charge accordingly.

Regards, Guy

Nice Jim you make me want to get mine out and play with it. I use the short forearm on mine because I couldn't get some of my barrels to shoot with the long factory forearm but did get one to work after I modified it to hold a Harris Bipod with no pressure on the barrel.

Jerry,

That was a 45 yard group off the tailgate of my truck. The group measures .380". The scope is off my 7x30 Waters barrel so I wanted to see where is was shooting
so I could jug a slug. I will be swapping out scopes shortly and get really serious about shooting it at 100 and 200 yards. I think I will ring the steel at 300 yards just for grins. ;).

Very nice Jim. That thing should be pure poison on deer. Looks like it would be a good elk load too for a handgunner.

Very nice group and great looking firearm!

I sure wouldn't hesitate to use that combination on deer, black bear or moose at reasonable ranges.
