I couldn't stand being cooped up in the house anymore today so I took my wife out on her first strictly coyote hunting trip. We got bundled up in bunch of clothes plus our snow camo and headed out of town with temps around 10 degrees and 15mph wind. We drove out to my usual coyote grounds and saw 2 coyotes off the road before we even go to where I wanted to be. Our first stand was a bust and saw nothing but a golden eagle. Our second stand started out really slow until I was messing around and showing my wife how to howl on one of my primos calls. And I got a howl back! We were just ready to leave when my wife heard it howling back. I couldn't tell where it was coming from since the wind was howling but I then spotted two coyotes about 3/4th of a mile out and moving towards us. I then started blowin on my tally-ho and they turned on the afterburners coming to us. My wife was struggling to stay with the closest coyote. He went below the hill we were sitting on and out of site. Just then the other one popped up about 100 yards below us on a little ridge and my wife told me to blast him. She dropped right there and I stood up to see where the other one was. I barked at him and got him to stop but my wife tried an off hand shot and missed. I shot a couple at him as he was running off but he got away.
