Went out calling this weekend at Jmad81's place on saturday and monday.
Saturday morning on my first stand I set the foxpro out and before I even turned the dam thing on, I caught movement out of my left eye, to my surprise 4 coyotes were quartering out and away about 100 yards. I howled and got 1 to stop at 140 yards, WHOP boom! 243 w/58g vmax at 3800 smoked him. Other 3 took off running, I howled again and got a 2nd one to stop at 340 yards, WHOP boom, 2nd one down DRT. Other 2 were still running, I started barking some more and got a 3rd to stop at about 500-550, held over him what I thought would be enough and touched off, but gave him a dirt bath. The first one at 140 yards was about a 30lb male, very nice coat, silver tips, having him tubed out. No exit with the 58g vmax at that range. No bad entrance blow up either. The 2nd one at 340 was a female and that 58g vmax did exit, but only left about a 1" hole.
Went out this morning to the same spot where I got the 2 on saturday. Soon as we got there, I spotted a dog about 600 yards out in the wheat field, but he was already going the opposite way and it looked like he was on a mission to get outta there. I threw everything at him and he would turn and look and that was about it. My dad and I sat there for about 30 minutes when I stood up and spotted one to the left about 210 yards poking his head out. I let a 58g vmax go and like they say, the rest is history. Nice little female. Hit her a bit low as I was shooting off the fence post instead of my bipod because there was a dip in the wheat field and I couldn't hardly see her otherwise.
Headed to the 2nd set and within 10 minutes this female came running in to the coyote pup distress. My dad smoked her at 205 yards with his 25/06 and 117g SGK's, it was a bloody mess.
