Was at the range last night for over an hour shooting. Was getting ready to leave and decided to go a different way then I came because we have been having a few badgers digging huge holes in our fields, and my bro was looking for one to mount. I didn't get 50 yards from the range and saw something about 150 yards off the road. Grabbed my AR and took a looksee. Here is what I ended up finding...

When I was skinning him out I found a part of the bullet. I hit him in the side of the jaw and down the neck. The base of the bullet was just under the skin on the top of his back. for comparison there is an unloaded 40 gr. BT next to the 40 gr. BT I shot him with.

Thanks, its a male. My brother is at a taxidermy school for the next two weeks, so he's going to mount it when he gets back.

Awsome Badger! I've always wanted to get one. I've seen them but they saw me first. I have seen some very nice mounts I'd be proud to have.
Thanks for sharing.
Good Hunting

Like Nolan says Awesome badger..

I have always wanted one too, but I only run into them when I am out shooting PD's. One spot we see em often enough, my shooting budd carries a pistol just for "protection". I think he has a phobia with badgers..

nice animal, cool pic! Tangled with a couple when I was a kid, more accurately the dog did, under the barn. Both were assumed to be rabid so they were not mounted. How do you like the AR ? is that a remmington? CL

Greg- If they see you first wait a bit and them try a preditor call. I have called a few back out of their dens this way. usually have to dig them back out, as they fall back into it.

CL-Yes it is a Remington R-15. I'm still getting used to it. I have been a bolt guy all my life so there is a learning curve for sure. Alot more moving parts to clean, and not as consistent as a bolt on paper. I shot a group with it the other day that was three shots measuring .233" center to center, normaly it will do five around an inch. All in all I like it.
