When time allows I’m to give these a whirl.

They measure 4.448” to the lands , going to use 4.400” gives me a full shank in the neck of case. Ran some numbers and N570 will get me to 2600fps safely. My 1:14 barrel is marginal. ELR dangerous game rifle

Wow. 500 grs at 2600 fps is some serious HP. You probably won't want to carry too many in your coat pocket.

A buddy of mine shot some of those in his custom .416 muzzleloader. I think he said he was shooting them 2300fps. There were accurate well over 1000yds. He did say the recoil was up quite a bit over the 340gr Cutting Edge bullets he usually shoots.

By chance you won’t know the twist rate of his barrel?

F, f, fa, fiv, FIVE HUNDRED GRAINS?

Oh my goodness!

500 grains would be bad enough out of something like a 45-70. But out of a Weatherby magnum? About twice the powder. I'd stutter like you approaching that thing to shoot it, then turn and run.

I think 500 grains is heavier than a whitetail I shot some years ago...

Well if anyone is interested , I ran a few through this evening. First I had to break the seal on my retirement nest egg (8 pounder of N570 I snagged before Christmas from PV). My rifle weighs in at 10.63lbs , these 500gr will get your attention.
I loaded the first one at 119.6grs of N570 to 4.350” (a little deeper than my goal) with Jamison Brass giving me 2523fps.
Went back and adjusted QL to see where I was.
Next up 120.6grs @ 4.400” = 2547fps
Next 122.6grs @ 4.400” = 2603fps , primer and bolt lift good.
QL calculation of BT node at 121.7grs is what I will try.
At 122.6 the case is filled 1/2 ways up the neck. N570 is slow for this cartridge but I can get my targeted velocity I want.
Next up is to see how accurate my rifle will sling these missiles.

I've used a lot of N570 over the years in a number of large cartridges. It does work, but yes, it is slow. Still, when you need the horsepower, it'll get the job done.

That’s some kinda cool right there. .976 BC is just amazing. Just think about how far that will hold onto the speed. Wow. Toooooo darned cool.

Please post up results.

I’ve been using 570 in my Mashburn and RUM and it’s quite good stuff. Expensive but clean and man it makes speed.

Man! Lord I bet that would be brutal without the brake Heck I bet they are still rough with the brake lol.

Finally found time to try these on paper. Now I can say I’ve found mine limit of tolerable recoil from the bench. 500gr DGXs at 2720fps out of my 460 WBY can’t hold a candle to these. It took a few rounds to get zeroed , 8 minutes up and 4 minutes right from my 350gr TTSX zero. Last shot is a little high (maybe me) , overall I’m happy they flew straight with my 1:14 twist.

The loads are certainly dialed in. I should imagine that load will take down about anything you'd ever want to hunt. And, yeah, there is a limit to the abuse one can take with these louden-boomers.

Mighty fine skills from the rifleman also. To take a beating like that and still shoot excellent lol. That’s an awesome load man.
