Been awhile since I’ve been on here or the range for that matter. I recently picked up a 416 WBY that I’ve been wanting. Was sold as unfired but the barrel was pretty green inside , could have been from factory test and never cleaned since then.
Powder Valley was so kind to send me 10lbs of RL-26  . I made brass from Jamison 500 Basic and set off to start loading it with 350gr TTSX from Barnes.
I found that the Jamison brass is 20+ grain heavier than Weatherby brass. I did a pressure ladder last week and was happy with the results. Loaded up to 122.5grs and saw no pressure with RL-26 but it was compressed pretty good.
There is a wide node in the low 2900’s which almost matches factory Weatherby ammo with this bullet that they list at 2880 fps. I loaded some at 120grs and 122.5grs and tried for some groups. Now my neck and shoulder have been acting up again so I was a little off my game but I’m excited with the results
I might try seating them a little deeper and try again but I good with this and it might improve when I can get behind the rifle when the neck is better.
