A friend of mine asked me to look into getting the materials to load for this round. I found dies that were on backorder on Midway for $160. I thought that was a little steep. Anyone here load for this round?

I've heard of people using 44 rem mag dies on it but I'm a little skeptical. I have loaded for bottleneck rifle for over 15 years but have no experience with straightwall pistol cases. ANy help would be apprecieated.

thanks, Mark.

$160 for dies is more than just a little steep.
The 445 is .325" longer than the 44 Mag so I would think you could adjust 44 Mag dies to bell the case mouth and seat/crimp. You may or may not be able to resize enough of the case to chamber in the gun.
Straight walled cases are different in that there is a third die operation involved.
1. Resize the case in a sizing die
2. Bell the case mouth
3. Seat the bullet and crimp the case into the bullet cannelure in a
seating die.
