45-70 and 350gr Hot Cor?

I just got some 350 Hot Cors and want to try them with IMR 3031 in my Henry. Looking at the Hodgeden Site they say 56.5gr is min/2022fps and 60.0c is max/2135fps, so I loaded 5 up at 57.0gr and now I'm questioning if they are safe?? With 57.0gr, there was some compression of the powder and I'm guessing the recoil on these loads will be heavy. I have done some digging online and found guys are loading the 350gr Hornady at 51.7gr-1700fps and say that the recoil is enough for them.

Again, I'm confused on to what are the minimum charges a person can use with IMR 3031 and the 350gr Hot Cor and still have a round that is safe and will work on deer? Can a person drop back 5gr and still be safe and shoot the Hot Cor at 1700fps?

Hopefully that is not to confusing and thanks for the help.
Used them for years for Bear and Moose in 45/70 the Speer 350gr FN
What rifle are you using ? Before I give you my load data !

They perform pretty much as a hard cast. They expand a little but penetrate very deep. I’ve never recovered one, but truthfully I haven’t used then on anything big enough to stress the bullet. They have been very accurate for me. To use them in 45-70 you have to use the LEE fcd. Also, from my experience, loads max out a few grains below Hodgdons data for the 350 grain Hornady bullets due to a thicker jacket. The factory crimp die is a must though.

The swift 350 A-Frame is really a perfect 45-70 bullet even though it's a bit stout at 45-70 velocities IMO. The only downside to the Swift is its relative cost. I've got several boxes of Hornady 350RN laying around here. They will get the job done at a fraction of the cost. If I was intent on hunting large bears or African animals with the 45-70, the Swift would be hard to beat.

i jumped on the 45-70 bandwagon with another purchase in this cartridge. decided to try a takedown.

Where do you find all these Ugly guns, first it was that OA 2311 now this . That thing is crazy looking. Do you have a picture of it in takedown form ? Is it threaded for a suppressor ? That looks like it would be fun to shoot. I eagerly await the next monstrosity you find.
