6.5-280 AI

gerry the 6.5-06 is a very interesting calibre & with the newer high BC bullets available would be great on goats & deer:)!! Also 140grainers would be real interesting on Elk (y).

PS. I normally pick up around 200 once fired factory brass at the range during the course of the year :).

Blessings,
Dan

Good call on the 6.5-06 IMO.
Fwiw, I was thinking of a 6.5/280AI until Redding told me the dies would take 90 days and run right at $200.

New member here. I have a Rem 700 in the "6.5 X 280ai", with a 26" Benchmark tube, muzzle brake, and removable magazine. Benchmark is just over the hill from me, and they put together one hell of a package! I am currently getting 3300 fps, with Berger 130 VLD's and RL25. I tried 7828, but found it to be a bit too "radical" and fast-burning (3156 fps, and blew two primers!). This cartridge/barrel combo has made a marginal, old fart shooter, such as myself appear to be pretty fair. 1/2" groups, at 250 yards, for me is good. Damn good.
I've found that bullet bearing length, and COAL are everything! I am getting about the same velocity, and accuracy with 120gr ballistic tips.

Welcome aboard, GrayScud. Always pleased to see new people posting, sharing in the interchange. When you get a chance, give us a picture of your rifle. There are a good number of rifle cranks posting here, and all will enjoy seeing what you have. Again, welcome aboard.

DrMike, here's a shot of it. 700 Rem., 26" Benchmark barrel, HS Precision stock, all in 6.5 X 280ai.
