Okay I am starting a new post after doing some reading. Right now I have a Vortex Crossfire 6.5-24x50 on my 6.5 Grendel. With the thought of buying a 204 and wanting to upgrade on the 6.5 I have a list of Vortex scopes that I am thinking about. I think getting the 6.5 upgraded first is more important than trying to buy a rifle and 2 scopes at the same time. After I get the 204 up and running next summer I can think about upgrading the Crossfire.

So if all works out, I would get a CZ in 204 and put the Crossfire on it. From there, I would like to get the 6.5 shooting out to 600 yards. Here is my list so far.

Viper 4-16x44 = $500
Viper 4-16X50 = $540
Viper HS 4-16x44 = $550
Viper HS 4-16x50 (30mm tube)= $490
Viper 5-15x44= $500
Viper 6-24x50 = $460
Viper 6-24x44 PA = $429

From this list, what would you pick for a 6.5 Grendel AR15 with a 18" barrel. The rifle is used to target shoot and maybe, maybe cover a hay field during deer season.

I have heard alot of good things about the Viper 4x16-44mm's WT. Seems like those would cover you well and allow you to dial out pretty easily as well.

I tried to stick with what he put up there, but yeah, like Jake said, check out the 4-20 Minox.. It is alot of scope for the money. I think it is on sale as well right now for 450.00 too.

I just moved a 5-15x42 Zeiss Diavari C to my custom .257 Roberts. Put the 2.5-8x32 Conquest from the FN onto my 7mm Mag Mauser custom. Since I will be shooting small varmit with the 85 grain BT's and 100 grain .257 PT's at deer. Plus I do not use the 7mm Mag for anything but longer range deer hunting where 8 power is plenty of scope.

The world is back in harmony and balance again. Sounds dopey to put my most expensive scope on my least expensive rifle but hey! It does what I want to do performance-wise, no question asked. Everytime that I buy or trade for a new rifle, I end up moving at least two scopes around to balance the herd agin!

So now, my .204 Ruger has a 4.5-14x40AO VXIII Leupold and my .257 has a Zeiss 5-15x42 Diavari. I am set for varmits large and small, near and far! I ordered some more 110 AB factory ammo from Nosler in order to get the brass and have some 110 AB on hand. Now I just need the 110 AccuBond bullets to load. I already have a 85 gr Nosler BT load at 3395 fps for coyotes. Who was it that person who said the .308 case is more efficient than the .257 Roberts (7 mm Mauser case)?

I've used the viper 6.5-20x50 on both a .308 AR and a .243 AICS/700 and was very satisfied.

It's mechanically sound, very repeatable and the glass wasn't bad at all. For the money, it's a lot of scope.
