Can someone run a Quickload for a 6.5 WSM for the 140gr AccuBond? Or if anyone has any experience with this any info would be great.

What powder are you wanting to use. Here is a load for a 130 AB with Retumbo:

Cartridge : 6.5 mm Rock (WSM)
Bullet : .264, 130, Nosler AccuBond 56902
Useable Case Capaci: 72.054 grain H2O = 4.678 cm³
Cartridge O.A.L. L6: 2.860 inch = 72.64 mm
Barrel Length : 24.0 inch = 609.6 mm
Powder : Hodgdon Retumbo

Predicted data by increasing and decreasing the given charge,
incremented in steps of 2.0% of nominal charge.

Thanks for the info, I am probably going to use Retumbo as a first try. The gun is still at the smith, just trying to get a good starting point.

I would think that Retumbo would be a good place. I don't have data on my version of QL for the 140 grain AB, however, which is why I used the 130 grain.

Man Mike, with you throwing data up there, like that, it won't take long for me to find a M70 WSM to send into PacNor for a 6.5WSM! That load data looks excellent and I think the WSM case is a great blend between the 264 and 6.5-06....... Man, I hate when you do this. I really need a 6.5! Scotty

Now, Scotty, I can't see that you'd gain anything over your 270 WSM. However, it would be fun to have something different. Okay, you talked me into it. I'll start working on it tomorrow.

6.5, 6.5, 6.5, 6.5, 6.5, 6.5 Scotty - you "NEED" one

The 6.5WSM is definatly a worth canidate.

I'm kinda funny, I guess. For me, the .257, 6.5 and .358 WSMs are much more interesting than any of the original WSMs (well, except the 7mm, which nobody but Browning makes anymore).

The 6.5WSM sounds like a great move to me. I like the WSM's and the M70's! It is probably going to be between the 264WM, 6.5-06 or the 6.5WSM when the time comes. Any of them in a slick M70 will make me pretty happy! Scotty

Mine is being built on a Rem 700, 26" #5 Shilen Select Match barrel. The gun started life as a 270WSM. Hopefully in a couple weeks I can give some range reports.

Can not wait!

Same here. I wanna hear more about the 6.5WSM! Sounds like something that would be up my alley! Scotty

Should be able to give a report shortly, I'm picking up the gun tomorow. I will be trying the 140 AB to start with. Have 129gr SST and 130 Scirroco to try also.
That 140 AB is very long and will eat up some case space. Retumbo will be the first powder and I'll have to see what happens.

I am really interested in seeing a range report as well. This caliber is more intriguing than a 6.5X284 for long distance shooting with the great sectional density of the bullets available for the 6.5 caliber. Might have to sell the CDL .260 and buy a featherweight to build one from.

You son of a gun Joel!!!! I hope you build one. It will make my load work that much easier!

I really think the 6.5WSM would be a sweetheart of a rifle in a Featherweight will a good barrel on it. Or maybe a Super Grade!

I know RL22 and IMR7828 have really worked well in my 270WSM with the heavier bullet weights. I would think they would be decent for the 6.5's also. Pretty close really. Scotty

I think buying a featherweight in a 270 or 300 WSM to do the caliber change to 6.5 would be simple. You wouldn't have to change the bolt face and I doubt there would be a feeding problem out of the magazine. I want to see the numbers over a chrony and what kind of accuracy comes from the range report first. I like calibers that are unique as long as they function well and add something to an existing cartridge that is out there. That is why I have a 338-06.

Do dies exist for the 6.5WSM? I haven't looked at any of the manufacturers lists to see if they are made already.

First range report. After some break in and scope sighting I got to shoting some groups. All loads used Retumbo. Started at 59.0 gr with 140 AB, 130 Scirocco, and 129 SST. Much to my surprise the 140 AB loads had lots of pressure signs, Stiff bolt, extractor marks and severely flattened primers. So I stopped with the 140 AB. The 130 and 129 clocked at 2850fps, with the 129 SST making a 3 shot group of .8". 130 Scirocco was at about 1.5". Went up .6 gr at a time. At 61.4 gr the SST opened up to 2" and the scirocco shrunk to .5", velocity was up to 3160fps!! Ran out of day light at this point. There is still room to go as I was not seeing any pressure signs at 61.4 gr. Would like to get near 3250fps with the 130's. Can someone tell me how much of an affect on pressure bullet seating depth has. I have magazine lenght left but the throat is short. Would seating the 140 AB deep make more pressure than if it was out farther? I have about .110" left in the magazine.

Here something on the 6.5WSM
http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthr ... er=1743602

There was always deal about using the 300WSM brass for the 6.5 vs using 270WSM. there was always a big deal about which WSM was the best 7WSM or 6.5WSM and alot of that came from the old SHORT MAG SITE and they had alot of good loading data wish I'd of copied it before they shut down. Sound like you got a nice rifle.
