Now i am thinking about turning my Remington model 721 30-06 into a 6.5x284 norma, i would want to shoot 130 grn AccuBond, can anyone tell me what twist rate i should go with, 8 or 9, i see that the nosler rifles come with 9, would that work for 130 grn bullets. Thanks: Mick

Get the 8.5 or 8 twist barrel and don't limit yourself with 130 grain. The 140 has better BC and sectional density. My 6.5-284 has the Lothar Walther 26 inch 8 twist barrel. I can push the 140 Berger VLD at 2975 fps.

I would also go with an 8 twist, you're going to get a lot more flexibility in the rifle with it.

Go with an 8" twist, you can't really go wrong with a fast twist barrel. I've got a 1-9" .308" Barrel at the smiths right now, my advice is go a little fast if nothing else.
