I'm pretty transparent which rifle I usually pick when I have a choice!

No! Really? :?

Ha! I'd mention one of my influencers but I hear he is sorta shy!

Gerry, I'm with you, I try and stay with one load but darned if I can. I always feel like I'm missing out. What can I say? I've got a problem and you all are my support group.

It is definitely a lot of fun coming up with all those different loads. Gives a guy a lot more trigger time too.

The 160 gr RN is kind of like a junior 30-06 - 220 gr RN and has taken a lot of big and tough game over the years.

It's not junior by much. That would be a pretty good punch on about any game.

Absolutely, I would hunt moose and grizzly with a good tough 160 gr :)

Support group?!?! Ha we didn't do a very good job you bought another rifle. I thought we were to buy things so you didn't have to. Help you resist the urge of something shiny. I guess we failed I even got a SS one to help you resist!!

Good point Jake. I couldn't let it go though. I knew good, bad or indifferent I wouldn't lose money on this rifle. Thinking it might stick around if it shoots decently.

Go ahead, Jake isn't at all shy about taking credit for influencing others. And Tom is only too happy to accept credit. After all, credit where credit is due.

It's a M70 it will shoot. Its the perfect rifle for your daughter so it will be sticking around plus you get to play with it until she takes it off your hands. Kinda kills 2 birds with one stone. Plus it fits your needs for a small 6.5. I dont know much more you can ask for. Maybe kills more than 2 birds.

What comes around goes around Mike.

How'd I get dragged into this mess? Or is there another Tom? :?

I see 4064 mentioned. I've used it in the 6.5 as well, and while accuracy can surely be had, velocity seems more elusive, as pressures mount fast with it. RL22/7828 let the Swede run faster for me with less pressure.

Looking sharp, Scotty. That will be a dandy addition to your collection of superb Winchesters.

Looks nice Scotty. We just came back from firing the Trail Boss loads I mentioned earlier, 15 gr with a 140 gr Rem CL bullet. Maria fired 18 rounds and did well, they hardly kick at all and have a quiet report, accuracy looks pretty decent too. Just the perfect load for a young lady as well who may want to fire a big gun ;)

Yep Gerry it's a keeper. Nice Scotty when was it manufactured? Never seen one with the hex screws and the small red recoil pad and stainless extractor. All the late model NH I've seen have the Pachys.

You did well with that one Scotty. You and your daughter are going to have some fun if she can pry it out of your hands.

Yeah, that is the interesting part. Some of the Classics came with Williams bottom metal and extractors. Alot of funnier things came outta that plant near the end. I will look up the serial when I can Jake. You've raised my interest.

I haven't seen a Winchester Featherweight with a Pachmayr from the Classic period.

The New Haven factory did put Pachmayr pads on a few rifles as the plant neared the final days. I have a couple with the Decelerator pads.

That is interesting stuff. Seems like it is hard to account for some of the things they did to these rifles when they started making the Classic's again.

Both of my Swedes have them. I've seen two different configs. 2-piece BM with a blued extractor red skinny recoil pad and flat head screws. Then I've seen the one-piece with the hex screws with stainless extractor FW with the black Pachys.
