Just wondering if anyone is using H4350 with 129sst bullets or the like? Any thoughts on what QL would look like running modern pressures in a modern rifle would look like. 22 inch barrel.

Code:
Cartridge : 6.5 x 55 Swedish
Bullet : .264, 129, Hornady SST InterLock 26202
Useable Case Capaci: 52.904 grain H2O = 3.435 cm³
Cartridge O.A.L. L6: 3.150 inch = 80.01 mm
Barrel Length : 22.0 inch = 558.8 mm
Powder : Hodgdon H4350 *T

Due to EU 'REACH' regs in Europe many of the old IMR/Hodgdon/Alliant etc propellants are no longer available in UK.
These manufacturers now have in place other REACH compliant propellants... though mostly I use Vihtavouri N550 or N550 depending on bullet/cartridge.
For what I'm shooting here, better MV & range with 6.5x55SE seems to work with the Hornady123gn SST

Gee Mike that is a lot quicker than the 4831 (2213) my son is running now. Might have to have a look at that and see how it shoots. The 2213 has him just over 2,700fps and it feels like it should be doing more. It has however very accurate with that powder. Thanks for the QL 👍

You'll want to keep in mind that most SAAMI loads for the 6.5x55 are kept to the lower pressures for the older Scandinavian military rifles (e.g. normal velocities for a 140 gr bullet kept to approx 2650 fps), whereas the pressures used for modern firearms are higher (e.g. velocities for a 140 gr bullet run up to approx 2780 fps).
QuickLoad allows you to adjust the pressure level for load data, so you'll want to verify which firearm you are using velocity, if that is your goal, to get maximum potential; older or modern?
Obviously, the 129 gr bullets will achieve higher velocities, if safe to use the higher pressure standard.

I load 45 in my 260 with that bullet. My son’s rifle for the Swede is a tikka so should handle the pressures just fine. Thanks for the reminder though.

I use 46.0grs H4350 with the Sierra 120gr Pro Hunter Win LR primer in Lapua case gave 0.3615 in 3 shot group. Forgot to record the velocity. 22in barrel. Dan.
I also use 46gns H4350 with my Mannlicher Classic Stutzen & a 123gn SST - gives me around 2800fps with a 22" barrel - very accurate too - Rem. 9 1/2 primer. I'm using Norma brass. Not quite at 0.36's but definitely not more than 0.5" (Mostly) :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
It's definitely the indian that's the variable not the bow & arrow!
