6.5X55

Very nice grab Jake.. That rifle was a score. I can't see doing much better than a CRF Featherweight in 6.5x55. That was truly a great score. You don't see many of them and you don't see hardly any of them with wood like that EVER! Way to go. Now you gotta put some optics on that rifle! Can't see you letting that one sit out!

Jake,

The long action gives you a lot of flexability as you can seat the bullets long. My 6.5mm Rem Mag is a cool round but I am limited to 2.810" COL due to the short action. That is the reason I stayed with the 130 gr AB and didn't try the 140 gr AB. I am getting 3050 fps with the 130 gr which is on par with the 270 Win.

Well I did it again. Picked up a late model NH Featherweight. It has a gorgeous stock on her.

Congrats! The 6.5x55 Featherweight is by far the best Post 64 Model 70 EVER produced. Mine shoots 1/2 inch groups all day long with Trophy Grade 140 gr Accubonds all day long in the Hogue Overmold with bedding block I put it in. And to think it was missing the bolt when I bought it.

Terrific stock on that thing. Looking forward to the range report for this one. Even if it does stir a little jealousy... :)

Congrats!

I could understand the jealousy, it took years to find mine, they are excellent rifles

Yes but I wasn't looking it found me. I'm pretty happy about it gramps always said the swede was a tack driver too. I guess I'll find out shortly. I confired with the only ones that would be jealous the Local Winchester experts before my purchase so I'm in the clear.

I think the only rifle I was really looking for was the Model 70 300WSM. The rest found me too!!!

There's a lot of that going on around here.

I was pretty content with my 35 Whelen, 300 Win Mag, and the 270WSM back in 2006 before I joined this place. It has been downhill ever since..

You're looking at this all wrong, Scotty. Acquiring fine armaments is not a downhill movement; it is assertion of a man's rightful place in the universe! We're all here to help!

True enough Mike. True enough. I do like them all for different reasons. It is fun to get them shooting and have them on standby for the Fall or Spring, depending on the animal!

I do appreciate the challenge of making a finely crafted instrument perform as it was intended. Harvesting game with a rifle that shoots ammunition that I built is often a bonus. I do enjoy hunting, but the development of the ammunition ranks pretty high in my estimate of pleasurable experiences.

Without a doubt Mike. I actually really enjoy when it all comes together and everything works the way it is supposed to.

That's exactly how my recent misadventure with a T/C Contender Pistol happened, sometimes we can get a little carried away with new guns and calibers that are new to us.

No doubt about that. I had my AR-15 and my .280, and 243. Since I joined I've acquired a 280AI, 338-06AI, a tack driving little 22-250 and now this 6.5X55. You guys have helped me out so much.

What about the 6mm-284, Jake? Do not pass up any opportunity to plant a seed in Scotty's mind!
Scotty, a 6mm 95-Partition at 3350 fps or even more...just think of the possibilities.

Now, RR, don't refocus Scotty's focus; he doesn't have that 325WSM just yet.

DrMike, I always though the way to keep someone else's RADD raging was to keep them from focusing at all. Maybe I've been thinking about this pursuit all wrong!

That Scotty is pretty unfocused to begin with, and you have to maintain just a slightly adjusted focus. He picks up plenty without thinking.
