Anyone have experience with the 6.8 mm SPC - I'm thinking about getting a Thompson Center G2 Contender with the new Leupold VX-L 4.5 x 14 x 50 B&C Scope. I've seen come comments about a similar set-up, but was hoping for some feedback from you guys. I'd plan on hunting whitetail, pronghorn, hogs with the rifle. I have a Browning A- Bolt in .300 WSM and just looking for something in a smaller caliber with good ballistics for Texas hunting.

No experience but just read an article on it (maybe in shooting ill.). Personally I would go with the 7-30 waters especially if you reload. I am thinking the article was by Lane Simpson but could be wrong there. He says if you reload it can be a good cartridge for smallish deer and restricted distances and that with 3" high at 100. It was made as a substitute for close range work by the military instead of the 223. Did not appeal to me though YMMV.
