Think these are getting closer.
Had to shorten COAL on both these.
The old 788 (6 mm) still has some life in it I guess.
If the guy pulling the trigger was a little more steady, the results might be better.

Has anyone else found the VLD needs a little jump to the lands or is it just this rifle and load?

Dewey

Good groups! My experience with the Berger VLD's indicates that they can handle a bit of a jump, but mine liked being seated quite close to the rifling.

Not a lot of samples though, and I was happy with sub MOA from my hunting rifles.

I'm REALLY liking that 7mm Rem mag load... It's a good one. Used 65ish grains of RL-22 and a 160 gr bullet for several years. If I had another 7mm mag now, that's the load I'd go for.

Thanks Guy.
Yessir, the 7 came together when I started changing COAL.
Can't wait to use it in the field.

The 7 will delight you, shooting in that fashion. The 6mm will also perform very well for you. Congratulations.

Dewey, that 7mm is shooting great groups. I believe that the critters should be nervous this fall :).

Blessings,
Dan

Thank you both.
The help and info from all here is invaluable. Makes load development go easier I believe.

I agree 100%, it really gives you a good starting point. If I run into anything I do understand I just go on line & in a matter of minutes there is someone who is more than willing to help. Great forum and the knowledge is likely the most extensive of any site .
I have made some great connections & friends here.
Thanks to all the people on site!!

Blessings,
Dan

Both groups look great to me, good shooting. Ah yes the good old stand by for the 7mm, a 160 AccuBond and RL-22. Love that combo.

Without a doubt. That is about as good a load as I have ever worked.

That old 6mm looks great too! Great shooting!
