6mm 105 gr A-Max

That is what I was thinking as well. Don't think my 10 twist will do it. A friend has an 6mm Rem AI with a #5 SS Kreiger 8 twist which makes little pinholes out of 105 grain AMAXs and Bergers. Makes me lose sleep thinking about one. I watched him take a beautiful cow elk at around 150-160 with the 105 grain Berger. Massive internal trauma and it did not go more than 20-30 feet.

What twist is this barrel? 10 or 12? Hard to believe a factory barrel will stabilize a 105 grain, I thought you needed an 8 twist. I haven't even tried anything heavier than 100 grains in my .243 with the standard 10 twist.

Factory 1-9 twist rate

Also worth noting that Hornady, right on their box, states the 105 A-Max requires a 1:9 twist rate.

The OLD 105 Speers are a flat base bullet and would likely work well with a 1:10 twist, though I never tried that. Those were good bullets BTW.
