Been playing around with a 6 ARC for the past couple months. Started with a Ruger American with a 16 inch barrel and now have moved to a Howa Mini action with a 22 inch barrel.

Mostly shot ELD-X's with a few 90 gr AB here and there.

The short barrel Ruger was getting 2650 fps with the 103's

The Howa is right at 2800 fps.

Thinking about this as a black tail deer, cougar, etc cartridge.

Hunting loads: Bullet wise the ELD-X shoots well but thinking about a 100 gr Partition, a BT or Sierra Tipped Game King. Velocity would be right around 2800 fps.

Thoughts?

I think it’ll work just as well as a 243. Don’t overlook the Hornady 105 BTHP as a killer in your bolt guns. The 108 ELD works great as well. Awesome little cartridge.

Those will work great.
As will the:
105 A-Max
108 ELD-M
Find what shoots good in your gun, and be content and go kill stuff.

The 108 ELD-M turns coyote insides into slush puppies. Mine is getting launched by LeverEvolution. I’ll have to look up my speed in my notes, but I remember its pretty darn zippy.

my 22" AR runs 108's 2725, thats hornady factory loads, shoots sub 1/2 moa if I do my part. have shot a couple deer with it, all does, the 2 I remember were the best and worst results. one at 70 yards that ran 30 yards and piled up and one at 304 yards that made it over 200 yards, both shot behind the shoulder. but will bang steel all day at 600.

Man I must’ve gotten the slow stuff cause the Hornady 108’s do 2580 in my 22” Howa. They are accurate though. I’ve had no problems getting the 108’s up to 2800 using LVR with book data from Hornady though. It is a very fun little cartridge and even cooler that it barely uses 30 grains of powder a rip.

Those would work. I’m going to grab some of the 109 ELDs shortly and see what my little gun will do with them.

just loaded up some 103 ELDX's with 29.2 gr of lever, won't handle the book max charge of 29.5, shoot 1 resize it and its now a belted case. Thats using new starline cases, hornady handles it fine.

L2R
once fired starline, once fired starline and resized, 3x loaded hornady.

This is factory loaded Cor-Bon 300 gr. 458 Socom using starline brass, most of the time it leaves 1/2 the brass in the chamber
