I've always used 139 gr. bullets for whitetail deer with much success. I would like to try the nosler ballistic tip. Would the 120 gr. be as effective or should I stay with the 139 gr.? My rifle is a remington 7mm-08 model 7 with a 22" barrel.

steelwkr,

I have used the 140 gr BT in a 280 Rem with excellent results on WT Deer and Caribou. This bullet kills like lighting from above, always 1 shot
kills. Most of the deer have dropped in their tracks from lung shots and a quarter size exit hole. I have always had plenty of penetration, only recovered 1 bullet from a deer. 11 deer and 2 bull caribou had exit wounds. The 140 gr BT is a great bullet for WT Deer.

I thought Model 7's were only offered in 20" barrels. Is this an older gun?

I just bought a Rem 700 Mtn LSS in 7MM-08. Took it to the range today for the first time. Average of 8 three shot groups was 1.14". Think I'm going to love this gun!!!

Make your first shot count!

my advice is to stick with the 140g bullets-for several reasons-but if it aint broke dont fix it-dave

I use 180's in my 300 win mag Like the hammer of Thor BANG!
No I would not hesitate to try the 120 gr and for the hell of it I have tryed the 120 gr nosler f p in my 7-08 have reserved the 140's for the 280 but think the lighter bulets in the smaller cased 7-08 will work very nicely 100-140 grs.
