7mm rem mag and RL 22

Does anybody have a good load for RL 22 and a 150grain BT in 7mm rem mag. My nosler #5 guide has RL 22 load data for everything in 7 rem mag except 150 grain. I want a long range load at about 3100-3200 fps. I have been using IMR 4831
 
My load for the 7mm rem mag with 150 gr Nosler Partition and IMR 4831 is 68 gr. Start 15% lower and work up. I get 3160 fps in my Howa 7mm rem mag. Works well.

Hey swampbuck where in Ala. do you live. I'm outside of Montgomery. I'm loading my 7Mag with 150 gr. Nosler BT. with IMR 4350 powder to acheive 3138 FPS. Good to hear from someone from Ala.

Hey spires5d, I Live south of Hoover In Shelby County. I couldn't get the 150's to group like I wanted with the IMR 4831. I have been loading 140's with the IMR 4831 and they have been grouping .5 moa. I tried the RL 22 with the 140's and they still group .5 moa. I really want to stay with 150's so I thought I would try the RL 22 with the 150's. Plus the RL 22 works great in my 270 as well.
 
Maybe you should try the 160's. They are the best compromise in the 7mm Rem mag.
 
I wanted to stick with ballistic tips but I just might try the 160 AB's. The load will be for Kansas whitetails in the 225lbs range. I'm leaving on the 26th of Nov, so I need to decide soon

The 160 gr AB is an excellent choice for your 7mm Rem Mag. The 160 gr AB offers excellent accuracy, expansion and penetration. The pics below are from my 280AI and a MV of 3000 fps which is similar to 7mm Rem Mag performance.

Hey swampbuck,I'm waiting on some Nosler 160 gr. Pt. that I ordered from Shooter's Pro Shop. Most of my hunting is done here in Autauga and Coosa county which has a lot of pines and thick underbrush. Over the years most of my shots have been 100yds. and under. Even though I'm partial to the 140 and 150 gr. ballistic tip. Hope you have great success on gettig a big buck out in Kansas.

Swampbuck, looks like everyone wants you to use Partitions, Accubonds, and everything but what you asked for. I use RL-22 for the 7 mag and a 7 Wby I have and they both love it for about all bullets. For the 150 BT, try 74.0 grains of the RL-22. With the 160 AccuBond, (caribou load), I use 72 grains of it. Not sure how fast these run, but it don't much make a difference. They group under a half inch as long as I hold still. Good luck.
 
Are those figures for a 7 RM or 7 WM?? They seem a little high for the 7 RM. Dont think I would even pull the trigger on that one!!

I"m using 68.5g RL-22 w/140g NBT and getting 3250fps out of a 7 RM and thats about pushing it from my Rem 700 BDL. Dont think I would stuff 6g more powder with a 10g heavier bullet.....

I have seen where a couple guys are using 67.5g-68g RL-22 w/150's and getting good groups and hitting the 3100fps range. I would definately start lower and work up to this though as I believe this to be around a MAX load.

Hey Pop could you run a load of RL 22 with the nosler 175 pt and a oal of
3.505 and a 24" barrel for my 7mm RM my next Elk load.

I am figuring you meant 64grains of RL22 with a 150BT NOT 74grains of RL22 :shock: :shock: :shock:

I suspect that it might go off with a big bang if 74 grains were used.

I ran 74 grains on purpose to show that it should NOT be attempted as was suggested by someone earlier in this thread. Read all posts on this thread you will see.
