Hi everyone. I just recently purchased a Ruger 77 mark 2 chambered in 7mm SAUM. I am going to load 150 grain ballistic tips for it, and have Alliant RL-19 on hand. My Nosler #5 manual lists H4831SC as being the most accurate powder. Should I give RL-19 a try first, or go with the H4831SC? My Ruger has a 22" barrel, if that matters. Not looking for max velocities, just a good accurate hunting load in the 2800 to 2900 FPS range. Any other powders you would recommend? Thanks in advance for your help. Howard.

I spoke with Dave at Hodgdon/IMR a while ago. I mentioned to him my new ruger 7 saum and asked what powder he recommended for the Nosler 150 grain ballistic tip. He suggested IMR 7828/7828SSC. I think I will give this a go. I had thought that 7828 would be too slow for my shorter barrel, but he seemed to think it would work quite well. Matter of fact, he recommended it over the Hodgdon powders. Anyone here tried IMR 7828SSC or regular 7828 in the short magnums? Specifically, the 7mm SAUM? Thanks again. Howard.
