I am seriously considering using the 7mm TCU with 120gr Ballistic Tips, out of an 18" Encore next year for white tail deer.
I was curious what the general concensus would be about this cartridge used for this purpose.
Would it be enough?
Where I intend to hunt with it, the longest shot I have taken on a deer was about 60 yards. 100 maybe 150 yards would be the absolute longest shots on my lease, if you were in just the right spot.

As long as you keep your shots in the under 150 yards limit you should do OK. I have a wildcat 225 Winchester case necked up to 6mm that I have been using on deer in a T/C Contender. It will push an 80 gr Sierra SSP bullet 2650 fps out of a 14 inch barrel with great accuracy. I killed a 6 point 150 pound buck at 75 yards with it two years ago and it blew his front shoulders off him. I also have used a 10 inch barrel 357 mag with a 180 Hornady XTP at 1350 fps. I killed a 130 pound doe with it at 107 yards last year. I had a chance to kill a big doe with the 6mm-225 this year at 98 yards but it was too late in the evening to be able to see the cross hairs good in the Weaver 2.5 - 8 X 28 scope. I did get it with my rifle though, Zeiss scope. I wish somebody made a pistol scope with a little larger objective and a little heaver cross hairs with at least 2.5 to 8 or so power so you could use it a little better in low light conditions for hunting.

Remember the name of the game is place that bullet where it is supposed to go and the deer will be killed.

Just this year I used a 14" T/C Contender chambered in 7-30 Waters to take 2 Whitetails (one at 200 yards and one at 124 yards). I too was using 120gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips.

Several years ago I again used a 7-30 Waters T/C Contender Handgun with 120gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips but this one was a 10" Bull Barrel. 4 Whitetails were taken with the 10" 7-30 Waters / 120gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips that year and all were one shot kills at ranges quite a bit farther than you are talking about.

Muzzle velocity from my 10" 7-30 Waters was 2258 FPS and from the 14" 7-30 Waters was 2436 FPS with the 120gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips. I am not sure what velocity you are going to get from an 18" Barreled T/C Encore in 7mm T/CU, but I am betting if you put a 120gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip in the right place at impact velocities of 1800 FPS or more you are going to get your hands bloody.

The 120 gr BT from your 7mm TCU should serve you well for the ranges you are looking at. You "should" get about 2100 fps which would work just fine for WT deer.
