I have a question for those of you more experianced reloaders. My nosler book lists my load of 63gr of IMR 4831 and a 160gr partion at 3008 fps. My cronograph keeps telling me my load is comming out at 3046 (10 shot ave). My browning has a 26" barrel and I am at 5700' elevation. Is this enough to generate the extra fps?

Each rifle is specific. The reloading info in the guides are specific to the test barrel used. As long as you are not seeing any signs of over pressure, and you are happy with the accuracy of that load, stick with it.

I agree.There are many different variables when computing velocities (barrel length,ambient temperature,barometric pressure,relative humidity,altitude,etc.)

If your primers are not being flattened and the case necks are not expanded out or cracked,I'd leave it alone. You are only 30 fps faster,if you were 100's of fps faster then you may start wondering (or give us your recipe  )

Thanks. I dont have any pressure issues and the load shots consistant 5/8th inch groups. I was just wondering if that kind of difference is normal.

Oh yeah - 30 fps difference from published load velocity is no big deal.

Sounds like you've got a nice 7mm mag load there!

+1

Looks like you have your load.

you are getting higher velocity with less powder than my 160gr load with a 26" barrel  sounds like you are doing good to me.

It's not unusual to see 100fps diff. between two rifles of the same manuf. w/ the same bbl. length & loads.
