Nosler's max load of H4831SC and the 160 AccuBond works well in my buddy's M70 7WSM. It's the cheaper one with black plastic stock and flat blued barrel. His mulie buck dropped like a rock at the shot last month.
We used Winchester factory brass and WMR primers.
He also has a 150 class buck and 6x6 elk he has taken with this rifle shooting 140 silver ballistic tips prior to me loading the heavier AccuBond for him this year.

Those were great articles. I was thinking about a light weight WSM of some sort but with the short barrel life I don't know about that now.

Oh, I don't think it's any worse than any of the other high-intensity magnums. Just one of those things to tuck away for future reference.
It takes most of us a long time to go through 1000 rounds from a hunting rifle.
Besides, it gives a fellow a great reason to have his rifle setup with a really high-quality custom barrel later... :grin: I figure barrels are like tires, even the good ones wear out.

I never thought about it like tires. That is a good analogy. I ususally shoot several hundred rounds a year through my hunting rifle. Somone needs to design a practical smooth bore rifle that shoots sabots with a hunting style bullet in. Can you immangine the velocities that may be possible that way?

Glad to see some interest in the betrayed cartridge. I worked up a load for this cartridge for my wifes M70 this fall. I must say that I was plesantly surprised at the accuracy with the new E-Tip. This load will almost cloverleaf at 100 yds when I'm on my game. 68.0 gr of Magpro, Federal GM215M primers in Winchester brass, with the 150 gr. E-Tip seated .100 off of the lands. This produced an 2904 fps average from a 10 shot string. OAT was about 48 degees F. Altitude was at 8800 ft. For what it is worth, I believe this combo of cartridge and quick handling rifle is about as good of a high country package as any I have seen. Congratulations on an excellent choice.

It sounds like you have developed an excellent load. I'll have to try it. I have had great success with 160 grain AB and 69 grains of MagPro. It has consistently harvested game for me. In my experience, the 7mm WSM is the most accurate of the WSMs.
