I tried this powder with 140's (BT's & AB's) but accuracy was, ummmm ....it sucked.

Has it worked better for Y'all with the heavier bullet?

It's not rl 17 but I'm running imr4350 with 150 btips out of my model 7 7-08. Accuracy is consistent sub moa but due to my lack of a chronograph I couldn't tell you the velocity.

How are your speeds looking Gunner. Seems like17 works better towards its up end.

17 works excellent in our 7x57 with 140's and 150's.

That is my goto powder with the 150gr ablr, I load it at 46.6 and get 2850fps and excellent accuracy-but that is my rifle and yours will obviously be different. That bullet also worked well with h414 and h380 if memory serves, but they werent near as fast.

I tried three different loads, with the 140's, working up to max. I didn't even try to run it over the Chrony because all the groups were out past 1 3/4" to 2 1/2". I still have a pound (-15 shots) so I thought I'd at least try a heavier bullet. I've used 150 BT's for many, many years and they served well.

Need some new brass though...........

I use RL17 with 140 bergers . I get 3080 FPS with about half moa groups .

I'm at 2892 with Big Game and 140 VLD, WLRM, 22 1/2" barrel. What's your rifle & recipe?

*** work up to this load , it could be to hot for other rifles ***

I have no pressure signs and I get good brass life . I shoot this load year round . when the summer heat is on , I shoot early mornings .
rem 700 with a 24" broughton BBL . 49.0 grain RL17 , CCI200 primer , Norma brass , 140 VLD hunting .

the three top spots are this rifle . 48.0 left , 48.5 center , 49.0 right . the big lower bullseye is my 7-08 tikka . all shot at 200 yds

My 7mm-08s are Tikkas as well, one is a stainless T3 the other is a Superlite. I used the Superlite with the VLD. What load were you using in the Tikka in the pic?

P

my tikka is the older 595 whitetail hunter stainless / synthetic . the load is a 139 BTSP hornady ,43.2 grains of IMR4064 , CCI200 primer , rem or win brass , . I'm not to fussy with this gun , and it shoots well .

150's in my 7mm08 has the most accuracy with H414. 44.0 gr gets me right at 2700 fps in my 26" barrel Remington 700.
