85 gr CT in 25-06 using RL-19

I know Nosler has their loads listed but I don't have any of the powders they list. What I have for rifle powders are RL-19, H4831SSC, IMR4831, Winchester Supreme 780, Varget, Hybrid V100, H4198, SR4759.

I would like to use the RL-19 because of the powders I have on hand that will fill the case best "I Think" and should give me decent velocity. Max load should run around 3500 fps. This load will be for my 25-06 barrel I have on one of my Prohunters. I can move the seating depth around if need be.

Any chance someone here has a load they worked up using the RL-19 with this bullet that was any decent? I wouldn't be opposed to using one of the other powders I have listed if you have something worth taking a look at. I have seen loads with either of the 4831 listed around so they may be a good choice as well. Just want to see what you guys think.

Ya I know I will have to work-up anything someone might suggest.

I'm using 57 gr of RL19 for the 85 gr bts in my my Ruger M77 I'm getting around 3600 fps.

I used the regular and CT version out of couple different rifles over the years. Only powder I used was RL-19. Velocity and accuracy was always top notch. The CT version I had going 3750fps, (over book max by a lil bit) and shot 1/2 MOA from a ruger mk2 w/24" bbl. I seated them out to 3.225"

buckfever, would that be a 24" barrel on your Ruger?

remingtonman, at that velocity you must be pretty close to the max pressure cup and well over suggested max grain weight with the powder. Loads I have seen list 58.0 grains as a max charge. I realize every rifle is different and it is not uncommon to exceed listed max loads and still be within safe pressure limits however, according to "POP" and the data he generated from Quickloads, thank you by the way, 60.5 grains would put me at max pressure cup seated at the recommended depth of 3.250.

My question is does seating the bullet 0.025 below max help your load with high pressure signs? Also, how full is the case with your load? I suspect it must be compressed.

A side from good case fill do any of you notice a velocity node this bullet seems to prefer or do you feel it is more relavent to the harmonics of a given rifle?

I believe I have read somewhere that this Lubalux coating on the CT bullet typically can generate higher velocities than the ballistic tip bullet of the same grain weight. All I know is I worked up a load in my 7mm RM with the 140 grain CT bullet and it produced fantastic accuracy. 0.019 CTC at 100 yards and .5 MOA at 200 yards. If I could get close to that out of this 85 grainer in my 06, I would be a very very happy yoty hunter! :grin:

Thanks chet, Great advise and thanks for the data.

I guess what I am getting at here is if the RL-19 was traditionally an accurate powder for this caliber and bullet weight I have chosen or if from the powders I have listed, has one of these produced better results. Ideally, case fill is what I am looking for if I can get it from what I have on hand. If not, I need to take a ride and pick up what I should be using.
