Hello all,
Just got back from my local range this afternoon. Finally got to put some 286 grain 9.3X62 partitions to paper. Using Lapua brass, Fed210M primers, and 58.0 grains of RL15, I put a 5shot group into basically, one hole at 100 yards. Velocity was 2300fps, Nosler manual says I am 0.5 grain under max. so I still have some "wiggle room". I think this would make a dandy close to medium range elk/moose rifle! Oh yeah, the rifle is a CZ550 american with Swarovski 3-9X scope and Talley rings/bases.

I have the same rifle. Gotta love them CZ's. .309 inch group at 100 yards with 286gr Partitions, Lapua Brass, Fed 210M primers, 65gr Ramshot BigGame, 2430fps 15ft from muzzle.

That Ramshot BigGame sounds like a good powder for the 9.3-
I will give that a try!
Thank you for the info

How's the recoil on that 9.3? I have that on the short list right now, and will hopefully fulfill it within a few months, but I was wondering where on the continuum between 30-06 and 338WinMag it sits. I assume it is between the two in recoil? Thanks.

I could not tell the diff between it, my 35 whelen and my 30-06 with 200 gr bullets. Similar recoil.

I guess it is not so much more, although my calculations show it to be about 22lbs for my 8x57 with 185gr at 2720, and the 9.3x62 shows about 36lbs with a 250gr slug doing about 2550fps. That seems like a difference on paper, but who knows what it really feels like. I know I want a better recoil pad than the little thin thing on my 700 Classic in 8x57 for load work, at least. I went to putting a folded towel in between my shoulder and the gun after I didn't get it up tight one time and got a little bruise. Not unlike the feeling of birdhunting and getting on the trigger of the big 12 O/U before getting it seated properly on my shoulder, I guess.
